Fatal Frame

Fatal Frame (2001)

by Tecmo, Wanadoo Edition
Genres:Adventure
Themes:Horror, Survival
Game modes:Single player
Story:Fatal Frame is the first game of the Fatal Frame series, introducing the franchise's unique premise of fighting ghosts with a special camera. Fatal Frame was the first to introduce the innovative use of an old-style camera as the primary weapon. In addition to navigating the main characters around the mansion grounds, players are able to enter Viewfinder Mode, where the camera is raised and the view changes to that of the camera's frame. In viewfinder mode the player is able to snap photographs of ghosts, both violent and benign, which is the main method of progressing through the game. Items are also available, some being consumable and most being key items needed to unlock doors, complete tasks or solve puzzles. Puzzles are encountered frequently in the game, some being based on the same concept but becoming progressively more difficult. The varying difficulty settings of the game (Easy, Normal, Hard, Nightmare, or Fatal (Xbox only)) determine the amount of consumable items scattered throughout the mansion and how formidable the enemies are. The main horror aspect of the game is, undoubtedly, the ghosts. The mechanics programmed for the ghosts allow them to float ethereally through the air, walls and floors, and even teleport, allowing them many ways to attack the player. The ghosts' appearances are usually inspired by their deaths or by Japanese stigmas of horror, which, some argue, are particularily chilling. The game, depending on which console it is played on, offers two endings. Upon completion of the game, a ranking is given based on total time taken, points accumulated and other categories. The player is also given rewards and unlockables, such as alternate costumes and camera functions, depending on what difficulty was beaten, how much of the Ghost List was completed and other criteria. Beating the game also unlocks Battle Mode, where the player is faced with fighting specific ghosts, and is rewarded with points towards purchasing unlockables. An option is also given where the game can be replayed with all equipment, upgrades and unlockables carried over.Show more

One of the best horror series of all time. Releasing the entire PS2 trilogy would be a dream come true. These games are stuck on old dying hardware but the forth and fifth entry are available on PC. This would be the perfect oportunity to bring the whole series to a modern platform and preserving it forever.

I never screamed as I scream with this one! The story, the spooky encounters, the camera... pure survival and pure horror! I would love to see the three original PS2 games ported to PC. I played them, and still in my collection, but it will be great for the younguest generations to live this experience.

It is genuinely tragic that the PS2-era Fatal Frame games have not been re-released/re-mastered. These games are extremely worthy of preservation. They shouldn't be forgotten. The first Fatal Frame sticks with me personally as one of the first horror games to get me interested in the genre. Please bring it to PC and preserve it!

I would love to see the complete Ps2 trilogy ported to PC with quality of life improvements. I have played practically all the installments, I only have the fourth part pending and I have loved them all.

A classic horror game, it deserves a port, and if that happens I hope they use the Xbox version with all the improvements and extra content along with the option to choose dubbing in English or Japanese
Only got into the series about 2 years ago, but im absolutely in love. Playing on an emulator with bugs and glitches just doesn't compare to owning something properly. The PS2 games are stuck on there and being sold for over 100 online, which isn't fair and doesn't preserve them. The only other (legal) avenue is the American playstation store. Importing a card (with taxes) and making a new account is one hoop too many. Out of all of the games that deserve to be ported, Fatal Frame is a series that genuinely needs it. They're fantastic games with beautiful stories and incredibly fun combat.

it is unfair that this game is not better known and does not have more votes, it was ahead of its time has an original concept and I wish I could get this port on PC to play it since I never finished it.

My first proper experience with a horror game, I was terrified and had to have my dad come sit with me. But it left me wanting more, and started me into my absolute love of all things horror, especially games!

I would love to see all of the Fatal Frame games from PS2 ported to PC. They are worthy of preservation. I had never played a horror game like this and have not since. It’s captivating and keeps you on the edge of your seat. It’s not well enough known and it deserves to be!
Those games also need your vote!

Kingdom Hearts
Kingdom HeartsThe premise of Kingdom Hearts is designed around traveling to a collection of levels that are both original designs, and based on various Disney stories, referred to in-game as "Worlds". The Worlds are populated by NPC's, based on relevant characters from the corresponding Disney story, for example, the World based on Disney's Alice in Wonderland features appearances by Alice, the White Rabbit, and the Queen of Hearts. Interacting with these characters forms part of gameplay, while combating the games enemies, the "Heartless" forms the other. Successful completion of a World is accomplished by defeating a key foe, which is either the primary villain from the Disney story, a unique Heartless of particular strength, or a combination thereof. Each world has a key foe which must be defeated, although there are many mini-bosses, side quests and treasures to be found that contribute to character progression within the game, and give bonuses for their completion in the form of weapons, items, and bonus scenes. The game uses an experience based progression system, with experience gained by defeating foes. Experience gained rises in relation to the strength of the foe, and is consistent for each enemy over the course of the game. Levels are gained with experience, and provide increases to stat attributes in strength, defence, magic, hit points, magic points and ability points, with a new, predetermined ability unlocked approximately every four levels. Enemies also drop a combination of four types of reward upon death, green orbs that replenish HP, blue, translucent bubbles that replenish MP, yellow diamonds that contribute funds to the in-game currency "Munny", and tiny chests that when picked up, add a item to the players inventory based on the foe defeated. Such items include those used to restore HP and MP, items to aid party members or synthesis materials which can be used to create weapons and armor.

Chrono Cross
Chrono CrossCHRONO CROSS, the sequel to the SNES favorite CHRONO TRIGGER, is one of the most ambitious role-playing games ever made. There are over 40 playable characters, each with their back-story, special moves, abilities, and weapons. The story spans two discs and follows the story of Serge, a young man who is able to cross dimensions. Suddenly he is pulled between worlds, trying to figure out his own past at the same time. The graphics are bright and beautiful, utilizing the PlayStation's capabilities to the fullest. The polygonal character models are huge and detailed, and the pre-rendered backgrounds are immaculately detailed. The music is composed and arranged by Yasunori Mitsuda, and features very realistic-sounding synthesizers. The battle system revolves around Elements, which are used to grant magical powers, as well as to summon huge monsters. For anyone that wanted to see the story of CHRONO TRIGGER continue, this is your chance.

Scarface: The World Is Yours
Scarface: The World Is YoursThe game begins in the film's final scene, with Tony Montana's (Andre Sogliuzzo) mansion being raided by Alejandro Sosa's assassins. But this is the point of divergence from the film. Instead of being killed by the Skull, Tony manages to sense him and shoots him down. He fights through his mansion, with many deaths on both sides. In the ensuing chaos, Tony sneaks to the front of the mansion, barely alive, and manages to escape in his car. Sosa is then informed that Tony's mansion has been seized and his massive drug empire has been reduced to nothing. Hiding in a safehouse located outside of Miami, Tony regrets the decisions he has made but swears revenge on Sosa.
