Before I buy this I have two questions. Firstly, I seem to remember this has a co op feature over LAN. Can I play this on two PCs with only one copy?

Secondly, does this have a wide-screen patch already applied to it?

And finally, thanks for the assistance!

No DRM, so there is nothing to stop you from installing the game on multiple computers. As long as the multi-player in the game works (and I haven't seen anyone mention that it doesn't), then your shouldn't have a problem with what you suggest.

No, but I think there are a couple threads about installing it in the forum. It will take some tweaking to get the widescreen to work on this version, but from what I have read, it can be done.

#1: Most likely so - GOG games have no DRM and you can thus technically run two parallel copies (I don't know if the GOG EULA forbids that legally, though).
#2: I'm currently making the widescreen patch compatible with this release (shouldn't take more than one or two days). If you play co-op, both computers must have the widescreen mod installed in the same resolution.

As far as I know, GOG doesn't mind multiple installs on machines that the purchaser owns (if they do, I am in trouble for over-installing Arcanum and Master of Orion 1/2, ruh roh). Unless there is some wording that forbids running the multiple copies concurrently, I don't think there should be a problem.
Thanks for the quick response. I'm quite disappointed it doesn't support widescreen, I would argue without widescreen support you shouldn't be able to advertise something as compatible with Vista and Windows 7. Though honestly it isn't going to put me off buying it.

And thanks for going to the trouble of giving us widescreen support. Do you have a Paypal Donate thingy?

I don't, and Gibberlings 3 (the community that hosts the Widescreen mod) doesn't either.

If you wish to donate money to the modding scene, the only modding community currently accepting Paypal donations is Spellhold Studios.

What does wide screen support have to do with a game running in Windows 7 and Vista? If the game runs like it did when released that is all you need to claim it is compatable.

Yeah it is just my opinion, and really it's just because I feel 9.99 is a little pricey. Anyway, thanks again for the help.

Really it's a great deal if you consider you also would pay for shipping.
My reading skills are crap today, or something. Here is a discussion on MP play for the GOG version. Apparently it works, but games can only be started in windowed mode? Curious. Regardless, I just wanted to correct my answer a little bit; I wasn't wrong in the answer, technically, but I did miss the topic discussing possible MP complications.

Yes, you have to switch to windowed mode (alt+enter for those that don't know how) before either creating or joining a multiplayer game. After the initial loading you can switch back and everything works just fine. It's a weird workaround but it works so I'm not going to complain. :)

But realistically, this is the one that would make the most sense to buy:

Before I will buy Baldur's gate 1, I wanna know if the GOG version is compatible with ''Game Ranger'' in a online play?

But I tried Icewindale 1, everything worked fine.

Thank you for all your help.

Don't know much about Game Ranger, but the multi-player function of the game is left intact. You can play with up to five others.
