I'm playing BG2, modified with BGT as outlined in this first post on one of the stickies:

http://www.gog.com/forum/baldurs_gate_series/baldurs_gate_2_essential_mods/post1

From the very beginning of the game, each character (my own, plus the stock NPCs you can acquire - not transferred from BG1) gets only the bare minimum hit points when leveling up: it's as if every roll is a '1', and then it's modified with the CON bonus and also the dual-class adjustment, if applicable. I just leveled Minsc and confirmed: he has a +2 bonus from his CON of 16, and yet again got just three hit points: roll of '1' + the CON bonus. It has been like this every single time for each character. I know that there are supposed to be hp limits when characters get to high levels, but it's been this way from the first level-up of each character back when they were around level 8-10 or so.

I'm running on "Normal" difficulty, with the slider at middle-left, but also saved just before leveling Minsc so I could try it on Core Rules difficulty - and got the same thing: just 3 hp. "Normal" is supposed to give max HP each time but I'm definitely getting min XP. I ran an editor last night to bump them up a little, and that's the first time I've played with an editor so it's not like I messed up an earlier save file.

Hit points worked correctly at level-up when I played BG1.

Any ideas?

You stop getting HP rolls at around that level. If memory serves, it's at level 10 for warriors and level 9 for priests, rogues, and mages (possibly level 8 for mages). Further, you no longer get a CON bonus to your HP gain. Rather, each class gets a set amount of HPs at level up. Warriors get 3, mages get 1. So it sounds like all is going correctly.

*edit* Found the accurate info on this:

Warriors have a D10 and their independant levels start at level 10 (which means the breakpoint occurs when going from L9 to L10). After the breakpoint they will only gain 3HP/level regardless of constitution.

Priests have a D8 and their independant levels also start at level 10, they will gain 2HP/level from then on regardless of constitution.

Rogues have a D6 and their independant levels start at level 11. After the breakpoint they will also gain 2HP/level regardless of constitution.

Wizards have a D4 and -just like rogues- their breakpoint occurs when going to level 11. After the breakpoint they will always gain 1HP/level regardless of constitution.

Geez, is it really that low of a level? Brushing the cobwebs from my mental AD&D books (1980s versions - HA!), I thought that happened somewhere in the teens. Ah, well. At this point I'm dying more from insta-kill attacks anyway, so hp isn't that big of a deal.
