Engineering a productive future.

Rise of Industry is coming soon to Games in Development, DRM-free on GOG.com.
There is no force in the universe more interested in pushing the world forward than the industrialist. In this upcoming tycoon game you become that force. Raising factories, setting up trade routes, researching new technologies or arranging transport for your raw materials is how you will expand your early 20th-century empire in this unpredictable, procedurally-generated world.
It sounds interesting, especially that you have options for the industry and can decide which kind of factory you want to use. You don't see that much. It looks like a mobile game though, so i guess it's made with Unity. Not really a problem, as long as the gameplay is good enough.
However, i do read about early access and that is something i rather don't want to see. Some companies are abusing early access and only milk customers while the game maintains to be in early access forever. Kenshi is a good example of this. 9 years in early access now. Better just continue with the product and that there is a finished product then coming up with some shady thing called early access.

I see your point, and as a gamer, I wholeheartedly agree. Many (most) don't have this: https://trello.com/b/t94R4mdV/public-roadmap

It's a detailed roadmap of what will happen by when. Also please keep in mind that we've been religiously releasing a major update every 1, 2 or 3 months, always of the top quality (outsourced QA included), so you can easily predict when the game will have X feature.

Kalypso, a AAA publisher has placed our faith in us (indies) as we constantly deliver. If you see that we break this promise, you are free to refund, anytime.
Roadmaps don't say a thing and can always be changed. The idea of having a roadmap is nice, but also dangerous as you create expectations which might not implemented at the end. Then you got furious people who will yell at you that feature x or feature y is not there while it was on the roadmap. How are gonna handle that?
sorry, but i'm not touching the game as long as it isn't finished. I don't trust early access. It's a too easy way to milk players. I doubt if refund is gonna happen. At least not on steam when you aleady have a couple of hours played.
And Kalypso is a name which is not very popular amongst the gamers. Personally i haven't much problems with them (i only don't like that extra program you get when i install the first templar), but if you make a little round on the forums here and you search for Kalypso you find many threads about them. I only do hope that the gog version will be the same as the steam version.

mqstout: Yes, at one point a couple years ago, I used to get your emails (eventually opted out). I forgot where I had found you then!

DapperPenguins: Maybe Reddit? I used to use it very often back then
Found it. I was one of the 390-few that joined your sadly-unsuccessful Kickstarter campaign.

It will be, don't worry

Oh, at least you haven't lost interest. Tell me if the game is still to your liking after playing here on GoG :)

DapperPenguins: We kept a simple artstyle so that it can run on the simplest of laptop.
Not really, when the system requirements on GOG's game card are correct. But that seems to be a common problem of todays game development tools. 10 or even 20 year old games, which have much lower system requirements, still look better than a lot of the current games. And in case of this game it's not only the level of detail, it's the whole art style, together with the gray greenish colors, which for me looks cold, sterile and somewhat depressing. But judging from the comments in this thread the majority of people like it, so you may be fine. :) And as I already said, I still may end up buying your game, when the game mechanics are good...

Trilarion: I still have to finish SimCity 4, so maybe later. Who knows how many DLCs this game will have.

Somehow I like the look of those trees.

clisair: How do you ever finish SimCity 4. There is always something more to do, especially with the modding community.
The question came up already and the answer was that I decide when I'm finished with it which is the case when I don't want to play it anymore. The "I still have to finish SimCity 4" kind of translates to "I'm still busy playing SimCity 4". Sorry for any confusion.

DapperPenguins: Sorry you feel like that. We kept a simple artstyle so that it can run on the simplest of laptop. Also, if you zoom in, you can see very detailed models. Take a look at these images:

Edit: also doing this: https://i.gyazo.com/80efbb274fcce9871d39b28f8986759a.mp4
if you released a high res pack in the future, that may scratch the itch some might have
(just an idea) :-)
I don't think the complaints are related to the poly count. IMO it's a matter of textures.
In case you want to see where we've come from and how much the game has evolve, have a look at past Dev Diaries, showing off previous big changes:

That's not a lot of space between the bridge's supports. Let's hope that Leslie Phillips isn't navigating that ship…
