About a month ago, Ring of Pain's devs sent multiple updates to GOG that were only available on Galaxy until the devs were made aware of the problem and contacted GOG about updating the installers. Wildfire has been outdated for about a month, but after contacting Support about it I found out that on Galaxy it's been up to date. But Support didn't even check the installers even though I explicitly mentioned the installers and what happened with Ring of Pain in my ticket, they just told me it was up to date on GOG and gave instructions for how to make sure I had the update via Galaxy. I recall seeing another user mention somewhere on the forum that yet another game has been outdated for about a month due to GOG not updating the installers, so who knows how many games are like this right now.

Is this what an """optional""" client looks like? After years of issues with missing updates due to some developers and publishers treating us like second-class customers, now we have to deal with games being outdated simply because GOG doesn't care enough to bother with updating their installers? This is beyond ridiculous.

This is what I was concerned about from the start, they won't "officially" get rid of offline installers they'll just neglect them.

You might want to look here:
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/ye_olde_gog_product_ids_public_api_charting_enterprise/post288
where WinterSnowfall maintains a spreadsheet with 90+ such games (some false positives, I expect; also, not sure when it was last updated).

A useful resource.

Some people targetted because they are unliked, rocked the boat or questioned something they didn't like so every post they have is downvoted when.. that is statistically unlikely. And makes it hard to tell what is good information and what isn't when they mess with the ratings that way in order to give someone negative reputation because of some slight.
It's likely just that they can't keep up with the sheer amount of updates that have to be thoroughly tested and repackaged into the offline installers. At least that's what it looks like to me.
Certain titles being prioritized over others as well as working from home slowing down things even further adds up too.

Only thing you can do is poking them again and again (within reason and politely of course and make sure to constantly mention the offline installers) and hope that the regular nagging pushes the update in question up on their internal priority table.

A month is nothing, by the way.
Not an update per se, but the addon for Not Tonight reportedly took about half a year to show up on GoG. Turned out the dev/publisher had provided GoG wih the files more or less on launch, but somehow actually pushing and making the addon available had fallen through the cracks.

Are you sure about that I checked and the Galaxy version of Risk of Rain is 1.3.0 (from 2016) and the version of the installer is also 1.3.0, I tried to launch the game but I didn't find a version number on the menu or anywhere (or maybe I missed it) do you know what I supposed to be different in the version you mention ?

Iirc they don't test updates that are pushed through their DRM, I'm sorry I mean galaxy. So this whole "we need to test it first" argument that has been used for years to excuse not updating offline installers in a timely manner is no longer valid. If they don't need to test what gets pushed to galaxy then they don't need to test an update for the offline installers, the only differences should be galaxy dependencies.

Thank you for this. I've added a link to that post to my Support ticket to make sure GOG is aware of it, although they probably are already.

To clarify, the issue with Ring of Pain was fixed after I contacted the developers about it and they reached out to GOG in return. When I contacted them, the Galaxy build had correctly been updated but they had no idea the offline installers hadn't been.

Orkhepaj: why is that downvoted? it is false info?
It's not false info, but it seems that for some reason this forum has a serious problem with either downrep bots, people who want to silence anyone bringing up legitimate issues with GOG, or both. The only things I've ever posted about on here are this and the thread where I brought attention to No Man's Sky having single-player content that's unavailable offline, but it seems that every post I make now ends up as "low rated" regardless of the content.

edit: I've also considered that the problem may be due to my avatar coming across poorly to people due to it looking a bit smug, so I changed that shortly after making this thread. Of course, at the time of writing the old one is still displaying since there seems to be a significant delay for that.

Oops my bad :)
That is *one* of the reasons why i do not buy current games anymore here on GoG.
Though i was not hit by neglected offline installers, rather the reverse: Updated >20GB offline installers when al 5 MB patch would have been enough...

I either buy elsewhere (sure sure, call me a bigot :p) or wait.

The only expection in the foreseeable future will be Cyberpunk. That i will buy here, or if available as physical copy that then is activated here.
