Matewis: Depends on how much I enjoy the game, and how feasible it is. E.g. I chased and obtained 100% in Arkham Asylum&City and Mark of the Ninja. But not in GTA3&4 since, even though both are very enjoyable, it's a more annoying than anything to look for all those pigeons. Whereas chasing 100% in the former examples were actually fun.

Currently aiming for a 100% in Caesar 3

Genocide2099: The one thing the Batman games did right or wrong, depending on your preference, is locking the Riddler boss fight behind collectibles. lol. I kind of hated it at first but his taunting really got to me. I had to fight him.
I can't remember that bugging me. From what I can recall I found the riddle clues and trophies a fun distraction.
It depends entirely on the game and the achievements. If they are skill-based, like a no-hit level/boss run (and I can get something out of it ) then I'll give it a shot, and I might be inclined to put a bit of extra effort into it. If it's something mundane like kill x-thousand enemies, or something I don't have the patience for like having to redo the entire game to get trinkets/a bad(alternate) end*, I might 100% it (if I like the game enough) but I won't bend over backwards to do it.

*If I am playing a game for alternate/true endings, it'd either have to be a VN or the game's replayability had better be damned good (like Hades good), or else it's just one and done, achievements be damned.

I do it on rare occasions. Ish. I've never 100% any game, I don't think. But I come really close to the point that I know I could.

I like achievements, I don't like when they give things away or the notification gets in the way of critical information.

I love it when I'm on my XBOX and a big notification alerts me that I'm a total nerd who has done something so stupid that only 1.2% of people have done it before. :)
It feels hollow, I play games for the experience and not for checkmarks.

...and Jack just left town.
Never cared about 100%-ing a game. For example, I love the batman games, but the Riddler's trophies can go fuck themselves.
While I'm a completionist, I'm not that OCD to strive for 100% achievements etc. But if it's a RPG i usually try to explore every nook and crany and do all the quests I can find. I don't have time and patience though for repeated play-throughs.
I'm somewhat a completionist - taken with a pinch of reason. I never complete a game on all difficulty levels, but on the difficulty level I do choose I try to see as much as I can in the fewest number of playthroughs I can. If I can experience about 80% of the content of the game in one gameplay, then I'm happy to call it quits. It takes something special to suffer another go round for me.

Which is why for the most part I avoid long open-world RPGs. I tend to get all picky about collecting things and clearing maps.
Just thinking about trying to obtain all achievements in every game II've bought is mentally-draining for me. Games are supposed to be fun and not a chore.
I'll play until the story / campaign ends, then replay if I enjoyed the game a lot. Achievements are a hard no for me though.
I can't think of the last time I even considered 100%-ing a game. I'll usually do side content if it's fun, but more often than not, the requirements for 100% involve tedious tasks, so I skip those if I can.

Now that I think about it, I did technically 100% Hollow Knight, but considering the max is 112 %...

100%ing a game is not what I consider fun. An emphasis on achievements and crappy game filler are what I see as reasons to not buy a game.
dont care
the moment i see the credits i consider a game done

and achievements are nothing but hollow asspats i dont care for
