how to make random maps available to the map editor ?
i get a fil format error when i try.

Please, for the sake of future posts, do try to specify a game or post in the game forum before asking open ended questions like this.

It depends on the game. On some games it is easy as a breeze, on others you'll be damning your own mother to hell. Your OWN mother, not someone else's! Think about that for awhile.

My guess would be the file needs to be in the correct folder for the editor to see.Or the versions are different and the map editor doesn't see it.More INFO would help in this guessing competition.

You need to put skill points into the cartography skill.

Or perhaps provide any kind of clue what your talking about ;op

It would be a plus if you mention what specific error you're receiving is also.

the game formats a new map.
i put the map into the 'game' fyle under homm III, together with the games included in the master.
i go into map editor, and the editor tries to load the game i want.
result: file error: file version = 51. current version = 28.

hope this is adequate info.

You know what? i totally believe you're over 40. This is typical boomer style talk right here. Does something wrong, then tries to make it out that it's wrong to criticize. That said, i don't have the game so i can't help you.
