Brand of a pirate.

Escape from Monkey Island™ is now available DRM-free, only on GOG.com.
Married life is not easy, especially when you're a restless and -largely- clueless pirate legend like Guybrush Threepwood. Doesn't help if your wife is considered officially dead, either.
Complete your Monkey Island collection as you embark on a hilarious adventure to save the pirates' unsavory way of life from the curse of late capitalism. Demonic cameos, cutthroat puzzles, and a dash of time paradox await!

Catch up on the legendary series with 25% off Curse of Monkey Island and 66% off Secret of Monkey Island and LeChuck's Revenge. Or grab them all together with Escape from Monkey Island with Stan's permanent, additional 25% series discount.
Individual discounts last until June 21, 1pm UTC.
Wasn't there talk of Double Fine doing to this what they did to Grim Fandango at one point, as it's more or
less the same 'engine'?

PixelBoy: Most likely he understood you...

Barry_Woodward: I'm not so sure, because he said "the wishlist does say originals". The wishlist entries we're discussing decidedly don't say originals, because they wouldn't, because they were created before the remasters were even considered.
Any entries created or votes cast before the remakes are quite obviously votes for the original versions?
It can be speculated whether someone voting after their appearance has
1) accidentally voted for the original version, thinking it was a vote for the remake
2) deliberately voted for the original version, wanting to get that instead of the remake
3) voting for the title only, not caring which of the two it's going to be.

Not to my knowledge, no.
Tim Schafer wasn't involved with Escape of the Monkey Island™, whereas he actually was with the original versions of Full Throttle, Day of the Tentacle, and Grim Fandango. Why would he be involved or interested in remake of this?

And the game using the same engine really makes no difference here. Those remakes don't use the original engine, so it's going to be different in any case. The same engine makes things easier for ResidualVM developers though, as they don't need to reverse engineer two different engines, only two versions of GrimE.

Great, then I think we're in agreement that those wishlist entries are no longer useful reflections of the voters intent. That's why clearing the field for the wishlist entries specifically asking for the originals makes more sense. I'd argue that you and others' voices aren't being properly acknowledged when they're lost in a sea of 24k or 18k votes from people with impossible to discern motivations. I happen to believe the majority of GOG customers were satisfied by the Double Fine remasters, but I'd be glad to be proven wrong. By all means, make your voices heard by voting for those new wishlist entries. Even a few thousand votes would be enough to get the attention of the powers that be.

Nice to see the series finally available in full. However, the price is a bit steep for easily the worst in the franchise.

Kharne: That third screenshot on the store page was VERY deliberate, wasn't it? :p

Vythonaut: Haha, good catch! In case you missed it, there's a similar screenshot in Blood 2's gamepage (maybe there are more of them?). ;)
I just looked, WOW!

Ya think this is all getting even for Steam's Wizardry 7 page having Gog's screenshots? i'm not kidding, if you didn't notice, go look and make sure to check the character names!
seems i have all 3 games : i love the first 3 but number 4 is a meh for me, a big meh.
so i skip the last one, the 'engine' has changed too much from 2d pixel to bad 3d characters in 4th game

the old pixelated graphics was much nicer
One of my most hated adventure games from lucasarts , it was the reason for them not doing adventure games for a while :X i shudder the horror of playing monkey kombat again......oh god

"Escape from Monkey Island (2000), the fourth installment in the Monkey Island series, featured the same control scheme as Grim Fandango, and was generally well received. It is the last original adventure game the company has released."

Removing the old votes doesn't exactly clear anything up though, since you'd be removing votes from people who DO want the original files and who might not know to vote again. It would still be misleading, just in the other direction.

For what it's worth I'd love to have the original files, especially for the two Monkey Island games since I dislike the remake's graphics to a large degree and there's several differences from the original files. Also some might want ScummmVM's graphics filters and whatnot. Obviously though I think GOG would have them as extras if it was as easy as asking, and I would bet Disney don't want to offer it.
The originals would be very appreciated! :)
Hooray! Glad to have the whole entire series on GOG!

Since the special editions of Monkey Island 1 and 2 are Windows only, it would make sense to release standalone versions of the originals that work on Windows, Mac and Linux via ScummVM.

I don't think so... ;)
Why did the group discount ended today when initially it was suppose to end on 26th?
