Little maverick.

Samorost2, a simple experimental adventure game from Amanita Design, is available now for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 33% launch discount.

Samorost2 is super weird. It's weird all around. The premise is weird - you're a gnome-like creature living on a tiny tree planet. Two mysterious, angry looking aliens land near your house and capture your dog, there's little you can do but lift off in your bottle rocket and get him back. The graphics are weird - the universe is a surreal collage of pastel colored textures and photography. The music is so weird, its award winning. Samorost2 is not a complex experience, it features no inventory or dialogue instead opting for a serene set of scenes to be solved and manipulated. Half game, half art, all greatness.

The GOG.com release of Samorost2 comes with a free copy of the Original Soundtrack bonus goodie, and it's one worth listening to.

A surreal adventure awaits in Samorost2, available now, DRM-free on GOG.com! The 33% launch discount will last for one week, until Tuesday, July 14, at 10:59 AM GMT.

yogsloth: This is what I'm talkin' about.

Why would I buy "Part 2" for real cash here on GOG, when I would have to go hunt down the FREE "Part 1" on some other website? If it's a free game, and an installer exists, is there any reason whatsoever why it wouldn't come with the game as a bonus?

I don't see myself buying this game without Part 1 available.
I agree it would make sense to have it as a bonus. Playing it on a browser with googleads on the side is not that convenient.

EDIT: Anyway just played through the first one in less than 10 minutes and nothing really happens so I guess it's a not big deal not to play the first one.

I love the stuff Amanita Design releases, and I already knew about the Samorost series. Like so many others, I played the first one many years ago, and I played the demo for this one. Since I have no money to spend on video games, right now, unfortunately I'll have to keep it wishlisted, but as soon as I get paid I'll definitely buy it.

Wonderful release, GOG! I know a lot of people complain about the "constant" release of point & click adventures, and if I could, you guys would also receive the games you want (ranging from racing games to FPSes, to cRPGs and strategy titles), but undortunately I can't do a thing about that. So, please, let us have the games we want in peace, OK? I promise I'll be happy for you every time GOG releases a game you like. I really do.

Happy gaming, everyone! :D

Kunovski: or do you need to own everything? ;)

Barry_Woodward: Companies have been known to go out of business. Hopefully Amanita Design goes on in perpetuity, but you never know. If the website goes dark, what then? Better to have a copy to play offline just in case. If including a copy of the freeware original will encourage additional sales and put completionists' minds at ease, why not?
I totally agree! :)

That, and for the future players as well - it is easier when all games are available in one place (or as few as possible), rather than them being hard to come by.

That is, by the way, the sole reason why GOG exists - there are many fan made patches\ mods, which helps run old games, but majority of the folks wouldn't go near them, because it was pesky to make them running on new OS's, and you still didn't had a guarantee it will run on your system.

I know, this game is not old yet, but it might be in few years and it will definitely help if somebody will keep it compatible with then-current SW.

Having said that, I too would be glad if first game would be either bundled with the second, or sold as a free game here.

I am fan of tiny space explorer in white pajamas, flying in half-tin-can, moving to the soothing sounds of Floex's music - already played the first one, will gladly pay for the second.

You may as well install an add on for your browser (like flash and video download) and download the flash file itself to keep it.

That's because Amanita hates GOG users.

Indeed. First the botched release of Botanicula on GOG and now this... that's just insane. I really love their games but something's seriously wrong with those guys.
I played the first Samorost on the website and enjoyed it, while quite short it worked as a good teaser for the sequel. The launch here with a discount was nice but it has been undermined by the sale on another store which is unfortunate for Day 1 buyers on GOG.

Wow, that sucks... It looks like they can't learn from their mistakes.
Hahahaha, I was going to ask if it was the same developer, lo and behold.
That's too funny. Will they do it a third time? :D
This is when downloading immediately bites you in the ass. I'm sure it works fine on my machine and "the devs are ridiculous jerks" isn't going to sway GOG on the refund. :)

But I certainly won't have the download-immediately problem with these guys again.

just what came in mind :) but as we know, there are probably some... issues with the developers :P that's the reason we can't have installer of 1 here on GOG (at the moment)

Oh wow. The behaviour of these devs is really ridiculous.
