Hi all. So I am amongst people who have been having issues with Cyberpunk 2077 using GOG Galaxy 2.0. However; the issues I am having are incredibly strange. I can do a full install of the game in its current form from scratch with 0 issues. I've done that now twice already. However; every single time the game goes to update itself in GOG Galaxy 2.0, the install fails with a "Disk Read Error", stalls the entire game install and forces me to uninstall/reinstall to play again. Adding to that, if I try to download the MP3 soundtrack from the game or any extras from the game I also get a "Disk Read Error" and they won't complete their download.

I have GOG Galaxy 2.0 installed on a Western Digital WD Black SN750 1TB M.2 drive. According to Western Digital's own monitoring software I have installed for the 2 M.2 drives I have (the other is a 500GB WD Black SN750) from WD this drive is perfectly healthy and has no issues it can report. I am also using BitDefender Free AV as well. I am also using the very latest GOG Galaxy 2.0 client.

I'm currently not planning on installing Cyberpunk 2077 again until Spring of next year at the moment and for good reason. It is because I'm thinking a lot of these issues are tied to the GOG Galaxy 2.0 client still being in BETA and not a final production product so it could be "bumps in the road" caused by the BETA.

However; I've looked at a few different posts to this forum and it seems this phenomenon is quite widespread with the "Disk Read Error". The one thing I have done so far is go into BitDefender Free and make the GOG Galaxy install folder an Excluded folder. Also, I'm thinking of uninstalling GOG Galaxy entirely (including the other current games) and reinstalling GOG Galaxy 2.0 in a folder not tied to Program Files or Program Files (x86). Aside from these 2 ideas in my head, I'd like to hear from forum members here if they have any other ideas. So, based on what I've shared, does anyone here have any other troubleshooting measure I ought to try? Thanks in advance for your advice and answers and until next time I am out!

You have probably already done this, but I suggest you to also check free space on disk.
Sometimes games' patches require much more space than their actual dimensions. For instance, Cyberpunk 2077 latest patch weights 500 MB, but it needs 60 GB of disk space because it implements changes to already existing files for a total of around 50 GB of data.

These are good ideas.
You can still install Galaxy into "Program Files" directory, but I suggest you to choose a different, unprotected path for the games: something like "C:\GOG Games\" will prevent any permissions-related issues.

Hello dr.schliemann. Thanks for your response. Wanted to add 1 more bit of info to help out. I currently have 186GB free on the SSD in question. With Cyberpunk 2077 it goes down to 127GB. Hope that new detail helps out a little more. Thanks.
