Both on GOG and Steam i have noticed this:

"Sale up to -80%! Buy the game right now and save some money!"

This is so ingenuine. By buying the game, you are not "saving" money. You are spending less that what your would have if the game had stayed at its base price. Either way (unless, in Steam's case, you have enough Steam Wallet funds from selling CS:GO items and trading cards) your bank account is being charged with a payment.

IMHO those sites should change the wording because it's incredibly ingenuine.

I could consider the name "savings" in regards to basic articles of clothing, food etc. which are basically necessary to live. Buying a game for less money isn't "saving".

With the frequency of sales on both GoG and Steam I'd consider the sale price the actual price, where as the RRP would be for people too stupid/impatient to wait.

Or people who want to support the developer. That's usually the reason I buy games at full price. There are a few games on my wishlist I'm planning on paying full price for, because, from what I've seen of them, the developer deserves it.
Everything is sold like that, not only games. In come countries the laws should make such wording illegal but I guess most everywhere noone cares anymore.

Please don't take it personally. I just meant that there's no reason to complain about marketing tactics or pricing when a sale is pretty much guaranteed every other day. Unless it's A Hat in Time lol
