BeatriceElysia: TBH, it's still helpful, since some of us want to play as mages/wizards, and not all games have this option.
Don't get me wrong: I wasn't suggesting the list wouldn't be useful. I was just commenting that it will be long (and not trying to say that was a bad thing at all).

BeatriceElysia: I don't think you can be a mage in Gothic..
Yes, you can.

fronzelneekburm: The Lego Harry Potter games, I suppose...

Are Jedi mages?

Are secret agents with some psionic trickery up their sleeves (shooting fireballs and stuff)?
Jedi are knights with unique fighting powers, really don't think it would count. Psionic trickery would definitely count, though.

Take a look at Elex as well. Not sure if it really fits, but there are a few abilities that are psi-like or magic-like. But very few. Overall, it's more a sci-fi thing with a couple abilities available (depending on your faction) that act like magic. Might be too light on the magic side to fit your listing though.

I will think about it. Doesn't matter if it's sci-fi (there could still be magic elements), if there's magic abilities then I will add it, but I think I will go now watch few youtubes and then decide. It must be a mage like play, though.

JRPG - which do you think it will fit my list? (you as you gog community)

You're predominantly playing as a melee warrior or an archer/gunslinger. Just thought I'd mention it, but thinking a bit more about it now, it was probably a bad suggestion on my part. Apologies.
I'm aware that definition of mage-like abilities is too imprecise, but each and every game developer treat it's game gameplay differently, so there can't be 100% correct way to pinpoint "mage game".

No need for apologies, after all, there are lots of games that have lots of abilities which really can't tell are they mage or warrior skills.
If you understand me, I'm not native speaker.

In that case System Shock 2 qualifies for the list. :)
Don't forget the Gold Box D&D games, also the Might and Magic series should fit.

If they don't have to be strictly RPGish, then Heroes of Might and Magic fits in on the more strategy side. Also, Master of Magic if Civ like games count.

Adding now. (You could also play as mage in Age of wonders, no matter the genre.)

In that case, Lords of Magic and all the King's Bounty games should fit.

Also, GR00T's right, it's going to be a long list.

What could I add?
I can't pull that up for some reason. I just get the spinny blue circle in Firefox until I cancel.

Did the gold box games get added?
Maybe Unepic?

I actually found that the best way to beat the game on the hardest difficulty is to use a pure mage setup. With powerful magic (including the Reflect Projectiles spell, a high level spell in a type of magic you get late and doesn't have other worthwhile spells) and a good staff and robe, the endgame is actually not that hard.

(Note that I suggest saving the orb that lets you respec for when the spell I mentioned becomes available; better to have those skill points not go to waste before that point.)
