There's no preview option in the GOG fora. Does anybody else want it, or is the wish hidden too much? Thus far there's only 93 votes for a preview function. Here's to the exposure of the wish:

http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/preview_and_reedit_of_forum_posts_function

My posts often get edited by me a few seconds after posting as I use 'Post my message' to get a preview. I'd much rather be able to push a Preview button to take a good look at my post before actually posting. And I see it in posts from other users too: edited just after posting. It would be so much neater to preview.

Barefoot essentials is the solution for your problem. It has live preview, so you see the result as you type.

Does it take into account the horrific URL manipulation the forum software does?
I still remember the horror of having to edit my post fifteen times before linking the URL worked as it should.
It was traumatic.

What horrific URL manipulation?

Wishbone: What horrific URL manipulation?
Sometimes when you use the url tag it will insert its own url tag giving you something like [url[url ... [/url[/url and variations on that. It's some kind of bad URL text separation, perhaps having to do with an apostrophe or something.
I didn't research it, but I personally find it annoying as heck.

Ah. I think I've seen it when replying to other people's posts, but I don't think I've ever experienced it myself.

I've also seen it but I don't think it ever happened to me. Just make sure that it looks like this: "[.url=http://WEBSITE.COM] LINK [/url]" and you should be fine (without the dot after the first bracket)

I think I know what you guys mean, I tried to post a link using the link button and it made one connecting to that thread instead of the actual target. Ended up just pasting the link without url tags and it worked fine.

I'm not sure, since I've never experienced the problem. But I'm kinda old school and it's faster to type [.url=]... then to take the hand off the keyboard and move it to the mouse to click then back to the keyboard...
A preview button would be a nice feature for the forums.
I'll add my vote to the existing whish.

I have no idea what you're babbling about, mouse clicking? What's a mouse?
I'm all keyboard, sweet pea.

Well, then what url problem?

Let's say you post a mistyped url tag. For example
(url=[url=http://www.gog.com)GOG.com(/url]http://www.gog.com)GOG.com(/url[/url]
By not closing the url tag, the format you typed is ignored. But since the post sees an http address, it url formats it, so it ends like
(url=(url=[url=http://www.gog.com)http://www.gog.com(/url)GOG.com(/url]http://www.gog.com)http://www.gog.com(/url)GOG.com(/url[/url]

Enjoy the mess you made me cause ;)

Ah :).. never happened to me .. but Barefoot essentials warns me at least if the tag is incorrect. It's red in the preview in this case.

Thank you, I knew other old school GOGgers had to have encountered that.
