We need a site like gog for console lovers too :) but the the real problem is only modded consoles could play those back ups i own some modded old and new consoles but still missing some very good old console games from my archive...
Well, I don't have a CDi to play Faces of Evil with :-(.
nope, not gonna happen.
oh yes they should invent a new universal console that can play most of the old console games :( othewise those games will be lost in the black holes of the history

They've done that, it's called emulation & illegal downloads of every atari 2600 game ever made (which was small enough when compressed to fit on a single floppy if memory serves. Err not that I know about such things of course). Presumably other consoles have emulators as well but who cares when you've got the 2600?? Did anyone ever come up with a playable xbox emulator?
The xbox 360 has the option to download I think about 15 original xbox titles, at least half of which I've sure as hell never heard of & there's major ones I've not seen on there like halo 2. Well unless Australians are getting screwed over on the xbox originals like we are with the rest of the marketplace and americans get shitloads more titles...
I do agree that for the sake of gaming history we really do need some form of licenced emulator, maybe xbox 3 will have full backwards compatibility with the 360 and then sell "original xbox on a disc" as an installable emulator. That'd be the realway to go I reckon, you'd get people buying the console twice, once on hardware & once on software.

They did, its called a "PC". Fascinating device, not only can it play games, but it also does document processing, web browsing and any number of tasks required of it. You really should check it out, everyone has one these days. :)
Seriously though, an official legal emulator with legally purchasable and downloadable ROMs would go a long way towards keeping old school console gaming alive... oh wait, they already did that too. Its called the Wii Shop, Playstation Network and Xbox Live.
Hmm, I guess we really don't need a place for "good old console games".

Uhhh, right. I can't even begin to address the inaccuracy of this.

Yeah, it's called the Wii.
Thx good new friends :) i am the original poster in the biggest warez site (also im a mod and uploader there) of the complete rom list of all consoles roms ever released i have all games for ds/psp/gameboy/gameboy color/gameboy advance/all sega consoles/all atari consoles/all mame roms/all neo geo roms and more i even have a gp2x linux hand held console to play neo geo roms with it while i'm onboard...but emulation never reflect the true spirit of the games...thats way i only take the most joy while playing the games on the ds consoles itself other than playing it in the pc..i also have modded xbox 360,xbox,ps2,wii and an old gamecube
to understand me just try playing the metal slug series on a gp2x other than playing them at pc with emulator you will feel the difference :)
The GP2X uses the same open source emulators that are available for the PC. The only real difference between the two is the GP2X has a much smaller screen.

yes sure but really there's no fun playing the emulation games on a bulky lcd or crt pc screen it doesn't matter even when you resize it into smaller frames of handhelds...in gp2x games perfectly fits into the screen and you can carry more than 10000 games in your pocket

Considering the Metal Slug series you mentioned were originally released on the Neo-Geo AES and MVS systems, they were actually designed to be played on a "bulky" screen and they are plenty of fun. By reducing them to handheld size, you lose a lot of the detail that was originally part of the game (though for some games that probably doesn't matter much). Who cares if GP2X can hold 10000 games, my PC can hold millions of games and I don't get eye strain when I use it.
i never owned the original neo geo systems before so i can't compare the screen quality of them but now smaller screen sizes = sharper texture, more details on those emulation games for me..when they get bigger they look chunky and brickly all the time..so i don't care playing them handhelds like playing a ds game with emulator gives me no joy at all..i play ds roms on the ds itself..

First problem: there are no good console games :)

HERETIC!
Well okay, person I disagree with a bit really. Plenty of good games on consoles, they're just mostly stuff that appeals more to the instant gratification crowd. I like a good bit of instant gratification in between protracted challenges and bouts of thinking
