This was a thread way back when, and I enjoyed it so I thought I'd start it up again. Post your pictures of your gaming rigs, give some specs, brag a little.

So my machine is running an Intel Core i5, 4GB RAM, 500 GB hard drive, GeForce GTX 470, Some random Gigabyte motherboard. And don't forget the random RAM fan. For teh lulz, you guys know. All connections are SATA 6 if I remember correctly. I may have used SATA 3 but...well it isn't to important. Anyway, duel booting Ubuntu 11.04 for coding in Python, and everything else using Windows 7.

Pics attached.

What are you guys running?

Asus G73JH

Intel Core i7-740QM 1.73GHz
17.3" display
8gb DDR3
500gb HDD (Got it cheaper without the extra 500gb HDD)
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870

Super quiet, and runs just about everything I've thrown at flawlessly. My only gripe is it has an ATI card, but meh, it gets the job done.

Mine's pretty "old-school" compared to some of your rigs, but never change a running system I say:

Intel C2D E6750
4GB DDR2-800
Geforce 450
1TB Seagate HDD
Ubuntu 11.04 and Windows 7 both in 64-bit.
This cheapskate's box. Was considering a new build a year ago but a cheap CPU upgrade (K8 --> K10) gave it a new lease on life. Can play TW2 on medium. :D

AMD Athlon II X3 440 (3GHz tripple core)
Asus M2A-VM motherboard (ancient AM2 690G)
2GB DDR2-800
640 GB HDD Western Digital Caviar Black
XFX Radeon 4770 512MB
22" iZ3D stereoscopic monitor
Linux From Scratch, and WinXP (for gaming)
Core i7 870 on Asus sabertooth MB
8gb ram (Gskill)
hiper Anubis case
SSD Corsair F120
HDD 1 Tb (Samsung spinpoint F3)
plextor sata2 dvd burner
Radeon 5870
Lg 23" led monitor

The only thing I pirate these days is my operating system, and even then, I avoid using it as much as possible. It's solely used for any gaming I can't do in Linux.

You know, I thought this was GOG. What are you doing with laptops that make my desktop look like garbage? Last I checked, you didn't need a fraction of that power to play 99% of games on GOG. Hell, I can even run the first The Witcher pretty decently. ;)

I won't lie. This machine is getting dated. If I could find a significantly better machine for $150-$200, I'd probably do it. Even my netbook is more powerful in some respects; it has the same 2GB of ram, but it's DDR2. In turn, the netbook has significantly better specs than the laptop I was using, which had 16MB of video memory, half the ram, and a quarter of the hard drive space.

People knock netbooks all the time and say you can't use them for gaming, but compared to my previous laptop, the thing is an absolute beast at a third of the weight. Plus, it doesn't get anywhere near as hot, I can use it anywhere since it has a working battery, a much better (if four inches smaller) screen, it has built-in wi-fi and bluetooth, a webcam and microphone, all of that used for $140. It's just amazing how versatile these "underpowered" laptops are.

I can play 95% of the games I have from other digital download stores on my desktop with great to perfect performance. Either you guys do some pretty resource intensive stuff on a daily basis or you're playing too many new games. ;)
