Tulivu: I am actually planning on purchasing this to build today.

Case: Coolmaster 912 w/ liquid cooling
CPU: i5-2500k (i7-26k is unnecessary for +100$)
Mobo: Gigabyte Z68A (can handle 2 crossfired gpu's for when I need to upgrade)
GPU: Radeon 6870
PSU: 800W (allows room for upgrade)
RAM: Corsair 4gb 1666 + 8gb 1333 (scrapping the 1333 from my busted rig though I don't really need 12gb, why not)
HD: 1tb (I need to check if the one from my busted rig will work, as well)
DD: Sony DVD (I just use the PS3 for bluray)

Not bad for under 1k, I think. Opinions?
Drop the Liquid cooling. and get a good air cooler. Also if you can afford it, an HD6950 is a better card and not too much more expensive. For ram, I'd go with the same sticks and more with gSkill than Corsair as they have better components with better compatibility. Also, when you buy ram, look for lower timings rather than high clocks as timings matter more.

I literally just bought myself a new rig last week. Its still in bits until saturday when I get a chance to build it. Its a bit of a monster though.

CPU
I7-2600k

CPU Heatsink
Noctua NH-D14 Dual Radiator and Fans

Motherboard
Asrock Z68 extreme 4

Ram
G-Skill 8GBXL Ripjaws X

Graphics card
Zotac GTX 580

Case
NZXT Phantom Black Full Tower Case with all 7 fans.

PSU
Corsair 1000W HX

HDD
2x Western Digital RE4 Enterprise 500GB for a raid 0 array and a Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB for media/game file storage

OS
Windows 7 64bit
Windows XP
Intel Pentium 4 2.80GHz
Radeon 9800
512mb Ram
60gb Hard Drive

One day I'll build a new pc, it's so depressing not being able to play sod all. But what can you do when your skint :(
Okay, I'll bite:

CPU - i7-2600k OC'd to 4.1GHz
CPU cooler - Corsair Hydro H60
MoBo - ASUS Sabertooth P67 Rev.3
Case - NZXT Phanton 921 Red
RAM - DDR3-1600 16gb G.Skill Ripjaws X
PSU - ABS modular 750W (I *think* it's rated 80+)
HDD (OS) - 320gb WD
HDD (Gaming) - 1.5TB WD Black SATA 6.0
GPU - MSI Cyclone 460GTX w/ 1gb RAM
Inputs - Logitech G110 keyboard, Logitech G700 wireless mouse, Logitech G930 wireless headset, Thrustmaster Afterburner Mk.II, XBox360 wireless controller, TrackIR 5 Pro, Microsoft Trackball

I literally built this a month ago. And while I agree the i7-2600k is excessive for gaming, thankfully that's not all I do with this computer.

EDIT - Attorney Wright has inspired me:

OS - Windows 7 Professional 64-bit w/ XP Mode installed
Monitor - Dell SP2309W 23" monitor (2048x1152)
Mousepad - something Gateway gave me for buying a gaming desktop from them in 2004
Speakers - Cambridge SoundWorks - Newton Series HT55 Home Theater
Sound Card - Creative Labs X-Fi eXtremeGamer PCI card
USB Hub - 24-port monster hub (purchased via ThinkGeek)

(I'll arbitrarily neglect the printer/scanner/ODDs...none of them are worth writing home about)

GTX 480
Intel Q9550
4GB of RAM

It's maxing most things. My processor is limiting me somewhat which occasionally impacts performance, but not horribly so. I do want an i7 at some point this year, before Battlefield hopefully.

sk8ing667: I always thought I had a pretty nice quality computer. I guess you get a reality check when you compare it to others on a gaming website. Some of these are pretty cool guys.
I kinda feel the same way, but that's Ok. I still think my pc is kickass. I'm pretty sure I can play all the modern releases on high settings with at least 30 fps, so that's good enough for me.

In December I had an old pc with a pentium 4, 140 gb harddrive, 2 gb ram ddr2 and an intel chipset. So yeah my new pc is awesome in comparison
Laptop,

Asus F5R

Core Duo T2130 @ 1.86GHz,
ATI XPRESS 200m,
120GB hard drive
2GB Ram
Windows XP 32-Bit.
Busted battery [needs to be plugged in at all times to run]

Pic attached.

Left rig:

Win 7 Pro x64
Core i7 920
Gigabyte EX58 UD5 motherboard
6 GB GSkill DDR3 RAM (3 x 2GB sticks in triple channel mode)
EVGA GTX 560ti
Corsair 850W PSU
Coolermaster HAF 932 case
OCZ Vertex 60GB Solid state drive for the OS, 1.5 TB secondary hard drive. I've got a watercooling loop on the CPU only (I really need to get around to OCing it...)
Philips Brilliance 240PW 24" h-IPS monitor

Right rig:

Win XP Home
C2D E6750
Gigabyte P35 DS3L
4 GB Mushkin Redlines
EVGA GTX 260
PC Power & Cooling 750W PSU
Antec 900 case
3 HDDs in this one (250 GB, 160 GB, 500 GB)
LG Flatron W2242T 22" monitor.

I've since cleaned up the rat's nest of wires under the table, and I've replaced the UPS for each rig. APC units on each one now.
