Hello GOG-Forums.

i recently started using GOG again to download the witcher 3 enhanced edition.

That was 4 days ago and my download is at 49% right know.

I have a pretty fast connection (1.000 Mbps) and on steam the game would be on my system in a few minutes.

On GOG the displayed downloadspeed jumpes between 4,0 MB/s and 0,1 MB/s but its mostly on 0,1 MB/s.
The limiter in the options is disabled.

I have tried to leave my computer on over night, but the download also stops completly some times with a download faild message and i need to manually retry. Luckily progress is saved.

I thought i could be the release day server load, but this is going on for 4 days now.

Is this a known issue? Is there a fix?

greetings Apia
Hello,

1. Disable IPv6
2. Set DNS to Cloudflare ("Set up on PC" section near the bottom)
3. Restart your system.

Whether or not that helps, open a support ticket. They need to be made aware of the networking issue.

Hi,

thanks for your answer.

Sadly:
1. Disabling IPv6 istn not possible with my current internet provider. They removed the option years ago
2. I am using the cloudflare DNS already.

I have written a ticket when I made this post but i am too stupid to check the current status of the ticket.

When I asked the Supportchatbot, where i can see the current status of a ticket he states, that he is sorry and the GOG-support is currently overworked and ticketstatus cant be seen....

Greetings Apia

That's unfortunate. GOG Galaxy has had IPv6-related issues for some time now and disabling it fixes the issue for many.

The usual workaround is to use a web browser to download the offline installers. But in this case, you'd miss out on rewards.
Personally, I'd use the offline installer, then in GOG Galaxy I'd click the cogwheel in the top left, then Add Games & Friends, and Scan Folders for GOG Games. It's possible GOG Galaxy would automatically apply a small patch to bring the version in line with what you'd get if you'd installed via GOG Galaxy. But I have a reasonably fast connection. so an 80 GB download wouldn't be that much of an issue.

Edit: Actually, the page I linked to above explicitly says this works:
"Because MY REWARDS requires an internet connection, the offline backup installer for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt that you can download via GOG will not support MY REWARDS. However, you can download and install GOG Galaxy at any point and add the existing install of the game to your library in order to claim your rewards."

If you know your ticket number, replace the end of the following link:
https://support.gog.com/hc/en-us/requests/1404514
Then after loading the link the first time, click the Sign In button in the top right. After you're signed in, you can load the ticket link again and it will display.
