Anyone else find it a little weird that they haven't implemented the full profile system from the site into Galaxy 2.0. Galaxy 1.0 if I remember correctly had the full profile? When you click on a users name now you just get a bland overview of recent activity, which is okay I guess but nowhere near as interesting as the users actual profile. For example:

Why is this not added GOG? Surely this type of recent activity could be better implemented into the actual profile system we already have?

Yes, it's very odd, and I had mentioned it in a thread where I was trying to list all the missing features and the objective worsening of some aspects of Galaxy 2.0 compared to 1.0.

https://www.gog.com/forum/general_beta_gog_galaxy_2.0/galaxy_20_missing_features_a_constructive_criticism

I think the cause is due to the fact that Galaxy 2.0 also shows data from other launchers, and maybe the version of the profiles on the site, where only GOG data is shown, is not suitable for this function.
I hope they solve the problem because they are objectively ugly compared to the version on the site.
Imo it is not odd at all. GOG has proven time and again that their focus in Galaxy 2.0 is the new feature of integrating other platforms. Galaxy 2 is still not offering the same basic functionalitys Galaxy 1 did even though they already forced Galaxy 2 on everybody. Their priority since the beginning is integration and since this does still not work correctly imo it might take quite a while before they even think of fun things like "profiles" which aren't even necessary. I mean we don't even have actual forum integration - Galaxy won't show you when you get pinged in the forum.

I'd argue it's more suitable and a much better place to show this info, it could even be broken off into it's own tab / section.
They could easily pull that information to the site the same way Galaxy does then add a simple check every time Galaxy talks to the GOG backend... is platform xyz integrated? Pull info and display on site profile. Is platform eyx not integrated? Don't pull info. Done.

Right now it's just a vertical endless scroll of ugly that I'm betting nobody even looks at because it's so bare and unhelpful.

Most of the big stuff is there, and we aren't talking significant work here... especially if they just display the profiles as they currently are in Galaxy 2.0 and don't worry about adding the other platform stats. Profiles are for the most part already done and ready to implement. Not to mention platform integration is open source, and a lot of contributions come from third party devs.

Why not all of it? Galaxy 1 was a client most people (who wanted to use a client) were happy with in the end. So why inventing the wheel again? They coul simply just taken what's there and ADD the implementation feature. They decided to do everything from scratch STARTING with the implementation and completely neglecting basic things. I am not just talking about myself, this is the general echo so far when they forced Galaxy 2 on the user even though they still call it beta.

Also, non significant work has never meant to GOG that they would do it fast ... you know this as well as I do. It took them YEARS to implement a lousy filter option for DLCs and they still have not managed to implement a SORTNAME option for the library on the website like they did in Galaxy 2 and like mostly every single database program is offering. Ii is ridiculous what they DID NOT do and what they aim to do while failing again and again. Try to hide a game in Galaxy 2 for just one platform - it is not possible without creating tags and doing a workaround ... I could go on and on ... I cannot understand how this way of working could be defended by anybody. To be honest, it puzzles me how such few updates on Galaxy 2 are happening even though they constantly advertize it. I've talked to users from other platforms as well and they say the same ... Galaxy 2 might be a nice idea in theory but it's hard for me to imagine that it will ever be a full Galaxy 1 replacement right now ... beginning with the fact that it still takes ages to load when you first launch it. Have you ever waited so long for Steam to load?

I think they will get there, but yea it seems like they took a really old version of Galaxy 1.0 and then made 2.0 which features from 1.0 went missing. I'm not exactly thrilled that they started from scratch, I think Galaxy has largely been mismanaged, but I do think 2.0 in the long run will vastly be superior to 1.0 and in many ways it already is.

That might be the case in the LONG run but unfortunately in GOG terms long often means REALLY LONG. I stopped time and it takes me about 10 seconds to start Steam - 40 to start GOG ... and that is the most minor complaint I have. They really should focus on the basics first - things people are missing and things people are expecting. Instead they are doing some fancy "look what we tried" stuff nobody ever wanted in the first place. Right now GOG should REALLY listen to those complaining to get forced from Galaxy 1 to Galaxy 2 and we are talking about quite a few users. Just listen what they complain about and change it asap. Stop concentraing on those integrations. They are nice but many already noticed that they also have several downsides (starting with the fact that you run multiple clients at the same time and call it an improvement). Why not open a thread and ASK people what they want? Instead they develop what they think could be great and are surprised afterwards that only a few are sharing their excitement. Ask the customer what he wants and give him what you can to make him (or her) happy ... that's the way a business is working.

Well at-least large updates have picked up in speed for Galaxy 2.0. We literally went 2 years without a major update Galaxy 1.0. This time around they seem to be doing a major update every few months.
