The U.S. Army has received a distress signal from Area 51 where a viral outbreak has just shut down the research facility and the automated quarantine procedures have locked all scientific and military personnel inside. A small Special Forces unit led Specialist Ethan Cole of HAZMAT (hazardous materials) Division is sent to investigate. As Cole, players will delve into five massive levels within the confines of Area 51, discover a mutagenic side effect of the virus that controls the minds of those infected, as well as an ancient alien colony buried beneath the facility. With a multitude of human and alien weapons, players must explore chilling conspiracies such as the extraterrestrial crash at Roswell and the faked lunar landing, in order to solve the enigmas of Area 51 before the viral mutagen is released and irrevocably mutates all life on earth.Show more

I will never forget the part of that one level where you discover the Moon Landing was faked. That alone makes this game worthy of preservation. Future generations deserve to experience such an honor.
To be honest i never had the chance to play this game in my ps2 however i am craving to play it once remastered on pc, i think it has a awesome gunplay, even tho it may not received a sequel or smth i think this game deserve a remaster.

This game is one I remember most playing with my youngest son, on the original xbox, split-screen death match. Years later I would pick it up on pc, and found the single-player interesting, but not as fun as I remembered in those death-matches. My son told me lately, I should get another console so we can play again; I told HIM this story too then, and about GOG. He's thirty-something: guess how OLD that makes me? But we still like to play... Very GOOD memories of this game with some others over the years! :-)

Ohhh, I remember this one! I've got it on PC attached to a game magazine like 20 years ago. I remember the feelings of fear and awe once I descended to the base. I've felt the shock once the first alien quickly sprinted through end of corridor, which I did not expect. Game that used all sci-fi Area 51 tropes to create a fun, replayable shooter with lot of "that looks cool" moments. Re-releasing it by GOG will definitely feel nice. In times of over-complicated games, titles that just provide easy, pure fun are gold.
I remember replaying the story mode of this game many times, back then, when I got it on the PS2 in 2005. It has great story and fun gameplay. it is one of my most favorite single player Aliens shooters out there for me. Would like to replay hopefully one day on PC via GOG preservation :)
This is one of those games that fascinated me as a kid and was a such fun game to play and enjoy with my sister and pops. At times i remember this being a difficult experience and don't recall finishing it.

I still remember when I bought this game for the PS2, I was in middle school. To this day its atmosphere has stuck with me, very bleak game which was downright scary for my younger self (definitely horror for me, at least until a certain point), especially with how defeatist the first part of the game feels, before transitioning into a lone wolf rabbit hole. But it was also quite fun to play. A strong singleplayer experience that manages to be atmospheric both when you are alone and with allies. Now looking back (or better said: looking at gameplay videos) I realize it's not a perfect game, but I would totally buy a reliable version. This and F.E.A.R. molded me into craving horror FPS experiences that feel creepy, hopeless and yet a blast to fight your way through.
This is probably my overall favorite game of all time, even if its just nostalgia. It was the first time my dad took me to GameStop. The guy almost didn't let us buy it because I wasn't 18. I spent at least a year when I was 10 playing this game. So good that I'm thinking about buying a PS2 just to play it.
This game is actually better than both F.E.A.R. or S.T.A.L.K.E.R. It has a palpably terrifying atmosphere that can only come from a close encounter with the supernatural.
Those games also need your vote!
