I have been a player of cobalt since the early alpha days, long before the game was only on steam (For PC release) The art style for cobalt is extremely beautiful and the mechanics of movement and combat is something other games have not really focused on. Like how instead of aiming you have to roll to aim where you want. But, rolling will also deflect (most) bullets. Movement can go from simple to advanced. There is a lot to master, but you don't need to learn all the tricks. The amount of time I have spent in survival mode, the campaign and even just playing with bots is incredible fun. There is a very deep game mode creation system and an extremely good map editor that even lets you import assets. There is also mod support, however the modding community is quite small. One of the problems with the steam version is that when steam added AUD support, developers had to manually update their store pages. Oxeye/mojang did not do this and this means I can not buy copies for my friends. Having a DRM free version that is on GOG would be a massive help to keep such a unique and fun game alive. The game doesn't actually require an account and only uses steam to connect players. This can always be changed to not require an account and simply let you join servers with a custom name, which the game already lets you use. It does not use your steam name.
I first saw this game played by CaptainSparklez back in 2012 and immediately fell in love with it. I had two friends who would come over to play the local coop for hours, every week, for most of high school. We never got bored of it, and those are some of the happiest times I can recall. Cobalt's rolling mechanic is still the single best game mechanic I've ever seen. Aside from the obvious use in deflecting incoming projectiles, you can use it to punch the ground for extra speed, to add momentum to grenade throws, to shoot in any direction without needing to stop and aim. And it just feels so good... The music and art are delightful. The bot AI is surprisingly intelligent. The map-making community is small but legendary, and still active! This was the game that got me into games, and the game that got me into game development. Please help it to live on!

Madagascar: Operation Penguin
Madagascar: Operation PenguinThe zany penguins from Disney's MADAGASCAR: OPERATION PENGUIN movie return in Activision's MADAGASCAR: OPERATION PENGUIN for the GBA. The Penguins plot to escape from the zoo and, in the progress, rope other animal into their crazy plot. Like in the movie, the penguins want out of the New York zoo. As the game opens, the crack team of penguin escapees has put the finishing details on their escape plan, which involved digging a tunnel under the zoo and all the way to Antarctica. Of course, this isn't as easy as it sounds, and the penguins will need a number of supplies, items, and help. And along the way, they also intercept a group of four lost animals on their way to the island of Madagascar. Gamers take control of Private Penguin, who is assigned a number of missions to accomplish. He begins with a few standard attack and jumping moves, but as the game progresses, he will learn more powerful attacks and abilities like sliding. He will also find several useful gadgets to defeat enemies with. The four main characters from the MADAGASCAR: OPERATION PENGUIN movie show up at times, as well. While gamers of all ages will enjoy the crazy penguin antics, the difficulty of the game is aimed at younger gamers. The puzzles, challenges, and levels are just right for young fans of MADAGASCAR: OPERATION PENGUIN, and the MADAGASCAR: OPERATION PENGUIN will provide hours of wacky penguin entertainment.
