Genres:Arcade
Themes:Fantasy, Science fiction
Game modes:Single player
Story:Ghostbusters is an action game that features an overhead-view and a side-view. From Ghostbusters HQ, the player must monitor a map of midtown Manhattan for "ghost alarms", as well as for casual, roaming spirits, and plot a route to the alarmed area. Once the route is plotted, the player then controls the purchased Ghostmobile as it drives through traffic. Here, the player is able to capture casual ghosts on the way if they are en route. When the haunted location is reached, the game switches to a side-view. Two of the Ghostbusters will take position, activate their proton beams, and toss a trap to the ground. The player must then use the two Ghostbusters to attempt to lead the ghost(s) over the placed trap. Once activated, the trap springs to capture any ghosts directly above it. A successful capture will earn the player money, which can then be used to purchase new Ghostbusters vehicles and new modifications for it. An unsuccessful capture will see the ghost fly away (after nastily sliming one of the Ghostbusters).Show more

The Nintendo version was terrible. Ok, that's out of the way. The C64 version was a lot of fun. You move around the city, busting Slimers for cash. Repeat until the city gets flooded by so much PK Energy that the Marshmallow man shows up. Run between his legs, beat the game, use your hard earned cash in new game plus to buy a better car and more gear. Make sure you buy ghost bait every game so when the ghosts freak out and rush at one building, you can stop them from Voltroning and crushing a major part of New York (and losing you that precious cash). Also, the chiptune soundtrack is weirdly annoying and yet incredibly satisfying. You'll basically hear the same few notes for an hour, but it will be a heavenly trumpet call leading you to glory and franchise riches. Fun times.
Played the game on Atari 2600 and on C64 and it was great! We dont need to talk about the soundtrack. Yeah, its beeping sound, but it is the additctive Ghostbusters song. The game is not brutally hard, but not the easiest either for a kid. So back then I never made it through. But I was really amazed a few years later, when I played it again and found out how deep is goes for an A2600 game. In this early years it was everything but standard for a game to have so many different mechanics and levels. And not to forget that it was really associable with the movie - which was REALLYREALLY rare. The game is not a gem - its a treasure of history.

I never had a C64, so I went to a friend who owned one whenever I could to play this game. I think he hated me for it. The C64 soundtrack is so incredibly relaxing ... It's just the main theme played on a loop, but rythm and instruments make one humm along and forget about time. The gameplay for catching ghosts is quite simple, what makes this game challenging is managing the budget and making sure the PK energy level in the city won't rise too fast. If you earn enough, you can buy improvemetns for your car to catch more ghosts while driving to your destination, keeping the level down this way. Funny nerd moment: The traps in this game are closer to the original script than the ones in the movie. Originally a ghost trap would have the size of a Soda vending machine and it required two people to carry. However, in the original script it would not "grab" the ghost. Instead one person would open the lid, another one would guide the ghost inside, only then they would close the lid. But I think we all agree that the version in the movie had a higher entertainment factor and it was also used for this game. There is a unofficial Windows version of this game, remade from scratch, but sadly it doesn't use the original C64 music and it's also quite buggy.

Ghosts 'n Goblins
Ghosts 'n GoblinsGhosts 'n Goblins is a platform game where the player controls a knight, named Sir Arthur, who must defeat zombies, ogres, demons, cyclops, dragons and other monsters in order to rescue Princess Prin Prin, who has been kidnapped by Satan, king of Demon World. Along the way the player can pick up new weapons, bonuses and extra suits of armor that can help in this task. The game is often considered very difficult by arcade standards and is commonly regarded as one of the most difficult games ever released. The game is considered by Gametrailers.com to be the world's second most difficult game ever made. The player can only be hit twice before losing a life (the first hit takes away Arthur's armor, and the player must continue on in his underwear until completing the level, or finding replacement armor). If the player loses a life, he is returned to the start of the level, or the halfway point if he has managed to get that far. Furthermore, each life can only last a certain length of time (generally around three minutes), the clock being reset at the start of a level. If the clock does run out, the player instantly loses that life. After defeating the final boss, but only with the cross weapon (if the player does not have the cross weapon, they will be prompted that it is needed to defeat the boss and restart at the beginning of level 5 and must repeat round 5 and 6 again regardless if the weapon is obtained immediately or not) for the first time the player is informed that the battle was "a trap devised by Satan". The player must then replay the entire game on a higher difficulty level to reach the genuine final battle.

Mega Man V
Mega Man VMega Man V, known as Rockman World 5, is a video game developed and published by Capcom for the Game Boy handheld game console. It is the fifth and final game in the Game Boy version of the original Mega Man series. The game follows the adventures of the protagonist Mega Man as he must defend the Earth from a group of powerful robots from outer space called the "Stardroids". Mega Man V was also unique from the previous Game Boy Mega Man games as it features original and unique bosses rather than recycling those from the original Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) Mega Man games.

Metal Slug 6
Metal Slug 6Metal Slug 6 returns to the Rebel-Martian alliance featured in Metal Slugs 2, X, and 3, but on a much broader scale. Rather than repeating the previous games' events of the Martians breaking the alliance and the Rebels assisting the player in turn, the player now teams up with the Rebels and Martians to combat an even greater threat. Metal Slug 6 introduces a new play mechanic dubbed the 'Weapon Stock System'. Two gun power-ups can now be carried at the same time. Players can switch between the two weapons, or simply put them both away in favor of the default weapon. When obtaining a new weapon power-up, it will automatically occupy the inactive slot, or, if both are holstered, replace the less recent weapon of the two. The score is now multiplied by powers of 2. The faster the speed at which enemies are killed, the higher the power, as a meter at the bottom of the screen shows. When it says "Max" enemies and destructible objects will drop coins for an extra high score.
