So few people know that this game is a part of Métal hurlant / Heavy Metal / Love, Death + Robots series, which is generally about short fantasy/sci-fi stories. But this one in particular is direct sequel to "Heavy Metal 2000", a full length adult animated film. Love both the series and this game.

I remember playing this on my dad's PC when I was like 12, and I was super scared of him finding out because of how skimpy Julie's outfit looks lol. I'm sad that the game never got a sequel, it's one of the biggest cliffhangers of my childhood (along with the ending to XIII).
I remember discovering this game on this website that had downloadable demos for Mac, back when I had the iMac G3, and absolutely falling in love with it. The environment is so rich it completely feels like its own world. The combat is really fluid once you get the hang of it, and is very easy to master. The characters actually had mouths that were reasonably synced to the dialog, which was really impressive back then (for N64/PS1 era games, this was damn near cutting edge). This game deserves so much more love and attention than it got.

Great game. Looks outdated for today standards but still a "good old game", currently missing from GOG. Played several times, and did completed once. 3rd person Quake3 engine based game.

This game is basically Drakan but without dragons and more futuristic. I love some of the maps have this futurism combined with nature, it's really awesome! Also the game has some awesome music and insane sound effects, it's literally a blast to play. Also, you can use a sword and a UZI at the same time, what's not to love? I would love to see this on GoG soon!

The game is far from being perfect. Unfair enemies, skills that you only need oen singe time for one single puzzle, questionable level design. But it has appeal ... and Julie Strain. inspired by the movie with the same name (in some countries renamed to Heavy Metal 2000), you play Julie, fighting aliens who for some reason invaded her home town. It's not as provocative as the Heavy Metal comics and not even as the movie, but it's bloody, there's gore. That has to count for something, right? I had this game in the big box, which is gone by now, but luckily at least tzhe CD is still around.
Great action game, with guns and blades, with platform and exploration elements. Based on Heavy Metal Magazine. Uses the Quake 3 engine. Has a female protagonist, inspired by the late adult film actress Julie Strain. Do you need any more reasons?
This game needs a rerelease! it was its time far ahead, great graphics, great gameplay! Sometimes a bit buggy, a remaster with fixed bugs would be best way to bringt the game back!

This was the only game I've played that had a level which looked as though it was inspired by Steve Ditko's art on the Doctor Strange strip in Strange Tales. I've read on the internet that the problem with selling this game is a rights issue. Hopefully it can be worked out and the game can return in an updated edition.

It is a wonderful Quake 3 Engine Title. The graphics are juicy with the beyond beautiful hand painted texture work seen in Quake 3 titles at that time, which is a pure joy to look at. The action packed, fast paced 3rd person jump and gun is a blast. Level, Character and Enemy Design was quirky and nothing you'd see elsewhere too often. Then there was the wonderful soundtrack (the actual in game music, not only the title song). I would love to have this as a nice GOG port playable with Controller. The game basically plays like a living breathing comic book, and a modern port would be just amazing.

Freelancer
FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.
