The original premise of the game revolved around a earthquake-ravaged Chicago, but was changed at the last minute into a post-apocalyptic survival game when Ubisoft was developing The Last of Us. Key differences between the two games vastly are apparent when playing them. The Last of Us is much more cinematic whereas I Am Alive, is more action, survival focused. Bleakly monochrome in terms of visuals as opposed to The Last of Us's colorful environments. moral choices, conflicts, etc. Having just played I Am Alive several years ago on Xbox 360, the game still holds up to this day. It's solid gameplay mechanics, good voice acting, character development, and engrossing, yet bleak storyline, really makes it shine above its contemporaries, despite TLOU receiving much more high praise. So, to sum it up, I Am Alive is a title worth having in your library right here on good 'ol GOG. It may not have the highs of Naughty Dog's sublime post-apocalyptic thriller, but it will give you hours of enjoyment for those who are fans of the genre. Here's hoping that it comes to GOG someday...

Ratchet & Clank
Ratchet & ClankRatchet & Clank is a platform/adventure game in a similar vein to the 3D versions of the Rayman, Sonic, Mario, or other games. It involves the two protagonists Ratchet, a furry alien creature, and Clank, a nerdy little robot, going on a quest to find Captain Qwark and ultimately to help save the galaxy. Ratchet & Clank includes many of the best features of previous similar games, but makes itself unique in a number of ways. Firstly each of the game's levels are huge sweeping vistas with extremely detailed buildings which are visible at all times (i.e. there is no distance fog). This means that a building on the horizon is not just a "backdrop"; in all likelihood Ratchet will be exploring it in a few moments time. Secondly, the game includes a number of sub-games, such as a space fight sequence and a number of turret shoot-outs which are akin to Missile Command in the first person. The game has over twenty levels (planets) and includes as many real-time cut-scenes which tell the story. Also of note is that the story is non-linear, requiring the player to return to previous levels to complete objectives and to choose between multiple paths forward. There is also a respectable array of weapons, gadgets, and accessories to find or buy as the game progresses, which offer some unique gameplay features.

The PC and Dreamcast versions includes all eight of Jill's possible costumes, as well as the mercenary mini-game Operation Mad Jackal which allows you to play as one of the three Umbrella soldiers. On the Playstation version, these special features must be unlocked by beating the game with a high score.

Tomba!
Tomba!Tomba! is a side-scrolling platformer in which players control Tomba, a wild boy on the search for his grandfather's bangle that was stolen by some evil pigs. Although Tomba is normally restricted to a two-dimensional plane, there are certain points where he can jump or climb onto a new plane. Tomba's main method of attack is to jump on top of enemies to grab them, allowing him to hop around on them before throwing them away. This can also be used to open other objects such as eggs or treasure chests. Tomba is also able to use various projectile weapons such as maces and boomerangs and can swing on branches and poles. The game is based around a mission system, where the main character's (Tomba's) skills are employed to complete various tasks. Completion of a mission gives a certain amount of adventure points (AP) which are required for AP boxes which contain food (which gives you AP and restores 1 space of vitality) or items, and you may for example need 50,000 AP to open one. AP is also used to gain access to special places or information later in the game. Not all missions are necessary to progress in the game, however, they are required to achieve full completion. There are 130 events (missions) in the game, many of them rely on other events to be completed.

Midnight Nowhere
Midnight NowhereIn Midnight Nowhere, you play a man suffering from amnesia who wakes up in the morgue. Half-naked, dead bodies and blood are everywhere. Something is very wrong, but he hasn't a clue what happened, where he is or even who he is. The city of Black Lake, Russia, is in a state of panic because no one has any idea who or what is behind the horrific slaughters - now numbering in the hundreds. Is it a serial killer? ... or is it something even more evil? You play this point-and-click, mouse-driven game in 3rd-person perspective. Features include animated characters, a mix of 2D and 3D graphical backgrounds and a mood-enhancing soundtrack. To advance the story, find and use inventory objects, read different types of documents, solve various types of puzzles, and talk to numerous characters. Falling solidly under the Horror category, the subject matter is not for the faint of heart. The strong language and adult sexual themes are in keeping with today's "R-rated" films.

ActRaiser 2
ActRaiser 2ActRaiser 2 is a side-scrolling platform game for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System developed by Quintet and published by Enix in 1993. The game is a sequel to the original ActRaiser, but the storyline is not directly connected to its predecessor; however, many plot details suggest that ActRaiser 2 may actually be set before the events of the original ActRaiser, or takes place in another universe entirely. Otherwise, the given story draws concepts from the famous religious epics Paradise Lost and the Divine Comedy. Unlike the original game, which alternately combined platform game sequences and god game sequences, ActRaiser 2 is only a platform game.
