Manhunt

Manhunt (2003)

by Rockstar North, Rockstar Games, Take-Two Interactive
Genres:Shooter, Tactical
Themes:Action, Horror, Thriller, Stealth
Game modes:Single player
Story:Manhunt is a third-person stealth horror game. The game consists of twenty levels, and four bonus levels that can be unlocked; the levels are referred to as "scenes". Players survive the Scenes by dispatching enemy gang members known as "Hunters", occasionally with firearms but primarily by stealthily executing them in gruesome, over-the-top ways. The player is rated at the end of each level, primarily dependent on the gruesomeness of the killings and the speed of completion, from one (unimpressive) to five (extremely competent) stars. Executions are preferred in order to gain a higher score, thus encouraging players to play as viscerally as possible. The game's locales are full of "dark spots" and shadows where the player can hide while being chased by the Hunters; hiding in these dark areas makes the player invisible to opponents.Show more

There will never be a game like this again, and Rockstar used a fanmade crack on Steam and it still is broken without Manhunt fixer, it needs to be preserved legally here. I have the best memories playing this, and will never forget it.

I know what a controversial game to support. Manhunt was unlike anything I played before and after. You take on many gangs brutally finishing them off. We are talking let's take Mortal Kombat fatalities but make em more realistic. You get a surprisingly decent stealth game. Some weapons you won't expect during a first playthrough. You have to do several objectives. Always expect things to suddenly get intense in the levels. This game isn't for anyone with a weak stomach. Manhunt is a game that's more on the lines of Hatred. The brutal finishers are quite disturbing to watch. There's also a challenge mode to test your skills. I will confirm you'll die a lot in this game. It's virtually an Hitman game where you aren't an assassin. At the same time, you do take out a lot of horrible people on the way. In a weird sense, a monster takes out an bigger monster logic. The reality of the situation is you never feel safe. You constantly have to adapt on the fly to survive. Especially the later levels with high difficulty spikes. I can tell you Manhunt is a game that forever changed the world. Why let such a game go into extinction? I do think this game could sell well on GOG despite many being against it's release here.

Banning a video game like Manhunt would set a negative precedent for freedom of artistic expression in video games. Although its content is violent, it is part of the creative vision of its developers and offers a unique, albeit controversial, experience. Adults should have the freedom to decide what type of entertainment they consume. GOG is the only platform that can properly support and preserve it for future playability and its zero censorship, ensuring this piece of video game history remains accessible and playable for those who choose to experience it

This game needs to be added to GOG mainly because Rockstar used a pirated version of the game for the Steam version upon release and only way to fix it is through fan made patches.

This is a awesome game! It's a game which was I hold fond memories for along with another banned game (Thrill Kill) in Australia, that I was lucky enough to get a burnt copy for my PS but would love to be able to play it on my PC.
This game is rightly violent and no one should ban it. This is fun and if people get ispiration from this, they have already problems, its not game fault. Bring this fantastic game back pls!
Why Manhunt (2003) Needs to Be on GOG — A Masterpiece of Psychological Horror and Stealth Manhunt isn’t just one of the darkest games ever made — it’s one of the boldest. Released by Rockstar Games in 2003, Manhunt pushed the boundaries of what video games could be in terms of atmosphere, brutality, and raw psychological intensity. It’s not for everyone, but for those who can stomach it, it stands as a masterpiece of stealth horror that deserves a DRM-free, preserved release on GOG. Why Manhunt Is a Masterpiece Gritty, Unrelenting Tone: Manhunt drops you into a city overrun with gangs and death squads — all orchestrated by a twisted snuff film director. From start to finish, it never lets you breathe. This game is pure tension. Revolutionary Stealth Mechanics: At the time, few games made stealth feel this raw and consequential. You weren’t just sneaking — you were surviving. The gruesome executions weren’t just for show; they were the culmination of nerve-wracking hunts. Sound Design & Atmosphere: The ambient noise, eerie music, and whispered voices made you feel hunted even when you were the predator. Manhunt makes sound part of the horror. Psychological Horror Done Right: The narrative isn’t just violent — it’s twisted, exploring themes of voyeurism, control, dehumanization, and what it means to kill when you have no other choice. No Game Has Matched Its Vibe Since: Nothing else feels quite like Manhunt. Its grimy VHS aesthetic, its commentary on media violence, and its sheer nihilism make it one-of-a-kind. Why It Needs to Be on GOG Preservation of Controversial Art: Manhunt was banned in multiple countries, and it's becoming harder to access. GOG is one of the few platforms that champions game preservation — even for titles that stir controversy.

This game is a one of a kind gem and was revolutionary when it debuted. Needs to be preserved as currently can only play it on a PS2. This game had so much controversy when it came out it was a big deal.

Army Moves
Army MovesArmy Moves is a one-player game which is divided into two parts. In part one, you drive a jeep and must avoid collision with other jeeps and being shot at by helicopters. Then, you fly around in a helicopter and the oject is to bring down airplanes without being shot at by the airplanes themselves, submarines, and any other ground fire. Make sure you land on the pad near the end. In part two, you start out in the jungle and must jump from rock to rock without crashing into toucans (shoot at them to make them fly higher) and being blown to bits. Then you have to make your way to the general's offices shooting soldiers on the way, and finally, locate the secret documents. When you complete the seven sections of Army Moves, you'll receive a higher bonus. Some versions have a high score table to record your achievements. The second section must be loaded seperately, using a code attained from completing part one, on some versions.

Blood Bros.
Blood Bros.Blood Bros. is a 1990 arcade game developed and published by TAD Corporation in Japan and Europe, while it was later published in North America by Fabtek. It is a spiritual sequel to Cabal, with almost identical mechanics. A bootleg of this game is known as West Story. In 'Blood Bros., two blood brothers, a cowboy and an Indian, team-up to hunt down "the most wanted outlaw in Dodge City," Big Bad John. The gameplay mechanics are extremely similar to TAD Corp.'s earlier machine, Cabal, however this game did not seem to appear as a trackball-controlled variant. The player's characters are seen from behind. Some screens feature protective walls (which can get damaged and shattered by enemy fire). The players have limitless ammunition for their primary gun, but a limited number of sticks of dynamite, with which they must fend off enemy troops. An enemy gauge at the bottom of the screen depletes as foes are destroyed and certain structural features of the screen (usually the ones that collapse when destroyed, rather than simply shattering) are brought down. At the successful completion of a level by fully depleting the enemy gauge, all the remaining buildings onscreen collapse and the player progresses to the next stage, reprising the amusing "victory dance walk" into the horizon from Cabal. Boss fights, however, start from the beginning if a player dies. Power-ups appear from time to time, being released from objects destroyed onscreen or special characters who may run across, such as the small Indian Chief figure or warthogs. Points and weaponry can also be dispensed from the tin can, if you shoot it into the air and juggle it with subsequent shots. Some power-ups give special weapons with increased firepower, others grant extra dynamite or additional points. Two players could play this game, cooperatively, simultaneously.

eXceed 2nd - Vampire REX
eXceed 2nd - Vampire REXThe human powers-that-be called for the purification of mankind and the eradication of vampires and ‘deviants bloodlines’ – those born of a mix of human and vampire. And so began massive purges of the deviants that were reminiscent of the “witch hunts” of centuries earlier. Leading the genocide was the exorcist corps the “Gun Bullet Children”. As the overwhelmingly large human armies began to obliterate every vampire and deviant community across the world, the opposing deviant armies sought to gather allies and rally back. Lia Fyle is a half-human, half-vampire girl fighting on the side of the deviants as they embark upon a turnaround strategy, the “Siege on the Holy Land’. Their plan: to lay siege upon the humans’ “Holy Land” and to destroy the Holy Lady Anhel who was the source of the human military power. This is a battle in which defeat is an option for neither army. Featuring an addictive dual-polarity gameplay system, this amazing vertical shmup is sure to please any shooter fan. The polarity and color of your character can be changed to absorb enemy bullets of the same polarity while charging the special weapon in the process and doing double damage to enemies of the opposite polarity. Every bullet absorbed charges your special weapon for total destruction. With awesome music, beautiful art, and challenging stages, this is the game that put the eXceed series on the map and has everything you would want from a shmup.

Medieval: Total War
Medieval: Total WarExperience the middle Ages in all their blood-soaked magnificence. From the lush grasslands of Western Europe to the arid deserts of Northern Africa, from the first Crusade to the fall of Constantinople, implement diplomacy, utilize trade, espionage and assassinations, spread your religion and wage total war in order to expand your influence and secure your reign as you build a dynastic empire to stretch across four centuries. Total War is the follow on from 2000’s Shogun- Total War. As with Shogun the game is split into two sections – the turn-based campaign map wherein the player is required to make strategic decisions, recruit and move armies, besiege settlements, fight naval battles and employ agents such as emissaries, spies and assassins to aid with diplomacy, offer alliances or bribes, or execute rather more clandestine actions. Religion is important in the game and whether a faction is Muslim, Orthodox or Christian will affect allegiances and public loyalty – as a catholic nation the player must carry out the wishes of the Papal States, embarking on a holy war if need be or else run the risk of excommunication. If public order and loyalty should fall too low in a particular region a rebellion or a civil war may occur – in these situations the player may decide to side with the rebels or the current rulers to quell the rebellion or overthrow a tyrannous regime-
