Metal Gear Solid HD Collection

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection (2011)

by Kojima Productions, Konami
Genres:Adventure, Strategy, Tactical
Themes:Action, Stealth
Game modes:Single player
Story:From the critically acclaimed director, Hideo Kojima, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection offers a handful of the most popular Metal Gear Solid titles from the past in true HD for the first time ever. Featuring three complete games, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, the HD Collection offers old and new fans a chance to experience the epic game play, design and storytelling of the MGS franchise. The "Metal Gear Solid (MGS)" series is the seminal work of Hideo Kojima, Japan's master game creator, and the progenitor of the stealth action game genre. The series has become a global phenomenon, with over 27 million copies sold worldwide. The player controls a secret agent from an elite special forces unit who is sent on solo sneaking missions through enemy installations, vast jungles, and sometimes even the thick of battle. Alone and surrounded by the enemy, even a special forces agent will find it tough to come out alive. But that is the secret behind the series' popularity-the cerebral challenge of figuring out how to avoid combat, and the thrill of sneaking through enemy territory undetected. The MGS series is also known for its storyline, which blends seamlessly with the gameplay. The scenarios are based on extensive research and incorporate the drama of actual developments in society. These elements have made MGS what it is today: a mature work of entertainment that transcends national borders and the confines of video games, and one of the leading products of the Japanese content business.Show more

Steam already has it on sale in its storefront. I don't see why GOG of all places shouldn't have this masterpiece of a Stealth video-game franchise on its store as well.

I felt this would be the easiest to start with Metal Gear wise. I previously had Metal Gear Solid HD Collection on Xbox 360. An fantastic compilation game that could differ the amount of discs depending on platforms. You get five great Metal Gear games in one package. Sure Peace Walker gets it's own disc. But considering it's so packed with content it deserves to have it's own. MGS3 always been my absolute favorite Metal Gear game. You get a lot of bang for your bucks with this. Especially you always wanted to get into the franchise. This could be the perfect starting point.

I'd like to be able to recommend some of my favorite games in recent memory without having to include a billion asterisks, please. Bringing the Master Collection graphically to actual modern standards (4K textures, higher framerates) would be really preferable. I've sunk loads of hours into these on PS3 and would like for my friends to be able to have the same experience.
I played metal gear solid 3 after a friend told me about it, and i use this colleciton on ps3 to do so. And i believe mgs3 is still my favorite game from this whole generation and will remain si for quite some time.
The trilogy that made me a Kojima's fan. It was through this colection that I was introduced to MGS and I loved it. I want to play it again in PC, I used to have a X360, but I've sold it
I had this on PS3 the amount of content, story and such that it had about metal gear was amazing. Its one of the best ways to get into metal gear. THIS is how I got into metal gear with metal gear 3, peace walker I sank like 500 hours just replaying and getting platinum trophy on it almost twice. Very different games from very different eras (peace walker was a PSP game), there is also the PSX versions of metal gear 1 and such, I would love to have these games again.
okay to be fair, we already have MGS 2 and 3 on pc due to the legacy collection, but but but! MGS PEACE WALKER on the other hand, we need to bring to PC ASAP but having the original versions to GOG would be great !

MGS3 HD on 360 was amazing, I still own a copy of that game in disc, but getting to download it thanks to GOG and preserve on my drive to play whenever and not having to struggle over other stuff would be amazing.
I used to go at the middle school when I first played Metal Gear Solid, the classic for PS1: it was the first time I said "wow a game can have a deep plot!". It was in a questionable Italian dub. During my first job a collegue lent to me Metal Gear Solid 2 fors PS2, having contact with the voice of David Hayter actually helped my to express myself in English, thing that school was unable to. But MGS3 was a gift from my father for my 19th birthday, I played it several times. Like above it was a way to perfect my spoken English (even thought with some slang...). For these reasons this trilogy is very important to me.
Those games also need your vote!

Silent Hill
Silent HillSilent Hill is the first installment in the Silent Hill series of psychological survival horror video games. Unlike earlier survival horror games that focused on protagonists with combat training, the main character Harry Mason is an average man. The gameplay consists of combat, exploration, and puzzle-solving. The controller vibration is used to indicate Harry's heartbeat and will vibrate on low health. The player must regularly enter an inventory screen to check Harry's health, use items, and equip different weapons.

Freelancer
FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.
