My first time playing it was on GameCube, truly amazing when I was a kid and still as adult, every game that's made or distributed by EA needs to be in this preservation program, we already know they are famous by killing games and studios.

Need for Speed: Underground is the quintesential night racing scene game that started my love (and hate) relationship with modded cars and underglow neon. It also shaped my music taste as a kid/teen, which I guess is not a bad thing either, because the music was generally quite good :) The most important thing, however - the racing! The physics were alright at the time, the rubberbanding AI was frustrating, but not unbeatable (even at hard), but the visuals and the look of the cars made it all worthwhile :) And who could forget the intro music when you land on the main menu...
8 year old me was playing it up and down. It is childhood for me and since I cannot get my old retail game to work I would love to have it back with gog. AND: Legendary soundtrack!
NFS: Underground was my first in the series. Everyone at school was obsessed with it but I was the one beating everyone times. I remember once we started playing together was when I decided to learn how to drive. Was I safe? No. Do I blame this game? Also no, I blame 2 Fast 2 Furious for that. However, this game made me start falling in love with cars and remember wanting to tune my own car. As I was still too young to own one, I convinced my brother and he got some neon lights on his. This game brings warm memories both in game and IRL. Probably the closest I was with my brother were during those night drives.

The game that started the changing of the series - and arguably the racing genre on its tail. It's was short, unbalanced, simple yet a classic nonetheless. We love things for the flaws as much as we do their qualities after all.

I started playing it, it was one of the first racing games I played, I fell in love at first sight because of the many references it had to the Fast and Furious movie with that Honda Accord painted red and white It was great to see the motion blur when using the microphone, for me in those years it was impossible to acquire a game. So my visits were in an internet cafe but today since I am a As an adult I want to buy it and have it to show it to the new generations who will love it as much as I do.

I was playing only NFS Most Wanted but I know it started from Underground ;) I'm not even a fan of motorization but this series was just great. Everybody in school had to play it and talk about it all the time.
Loved this title so much... I played trough a countless times. Sometimes in multiplayer too. A couple of keyboards was destroyed in the heat of the game XD The soundtrack is still blood boiling.

The game uses a cel-shaded style of animation, and has been widely acclaimed for its unique music style, detailed art, and gameplay. Though the game is set in the future, its style and content incorporates many aspects of 1980's old school hip hop culture, as well as 1990's J-pop culture.
