I could gush about this game for hours, but nothing beats playing the game for yourself. There are multiple fan servers on PC (Ephiena is my favorite) that are 100% free to play. Check it out.
Despite that, an official PC re-release with an offline mode like the console versions got would be awesome to play. Please give this game the GOG treatment!
I've been playing it for 20 years now ! Hope it will See The Light again in GOG! I swear, if it launches in GOG - I Will buy at least 4 copies of the game!! There are still several servers to play it like Sylverant and Schthack private servers. And I'm still playing challange mode ^^, probably completed it for 100 chars now
This is a huge gap in the preservation of Online gaming. I understand the expense in maintaining servers and software for a game that, frankly, was easily exploitable and hacked.
I have tons of memories of journeying, from my first day on pioneer 2 to the day I conquered the ruins. some kind of official partnership with sega that allowed this game to survive into the modern day would be incredible.
it helps that the gameplay loop and soundtrack are incredibly solid.
I played this much later on the Gamecube and it was still a good time. This is the one that started the whole 3D sci-fi MMO that's still being used as a base for current PSO2. It looked good for the time, had a lot of weapons and/or spells each class could use and a subtly told story with unsettling vibes.
I discovered this game back in 2023 after picking it up on the Original Xbox. If you start this game, prepare to lose at least 1000 hours of your life to it. The community behind it is very friendly and passionate. I hope and pray that this game will one day make it's grand return in an official capacity.

Wizardry I & IIWizardry I & II contains the first two installments of the Wizardry series: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord and Knight of Diamond. Both games were ported to the PC Engine (TurboGrafx) CD console with various enhancements, unreleased separately. In fact, the two games are merged into one, as the player is able to play through both of them continuously directly from the main menu.
Though the game(s) are rather faithful in gameplay and graphical design to the original computer versions, the enhancements are significant enough to consider this release a remake. Similarly to the NES / Famicom version, the dungeons have simple graphics, unlike the computer originals with their vector lines. Enemy sprites are also more detailed and occupy a larger portion of the screen.
A pre-made party of six is available to the player right at the beginning, consisting of characters with generic names ("Fighter", "Samurai", etc.); creating own characters (unlike in the modified PC Engine CD version of Might and Magic), however, remains possible. Dungeon navigation is accompanied by orchestrated CD audio music in this version. The battle music is in PSG format.Fantasy
