While Rumble Roses may seem like a game that's very much of it's time (And it very much is if we're being honest), the very solid gameplay and bonkers story is what keeps me coming back to this game from time to time on my PS2. There's very few other wrestling games out there that really captures the high potential for how absurd and wild pro wrestling stories and characters can be while also being fun and easy to pick up and play for both experienced and new wrestling game players. This game deserves a second wind and I think more people now can appreciate how positively camp this game is and have fun playing all the fun characters that star in it.

Rumble Roses was one of the first PS2 games I bought with my own money. Its visual style, bold and colorful, grabbed me from the start and the game hasn't let go of my heart in over 20 years. With its stellar character designs, wacky storylines, exciting presentation and simple but expansive gameplay, it remains one of the most unique and charming wrestling games ever made. And unlike most games in that subgenre, which tend to veer towards increasingly complex simulation, Roses keeps things accessible, finding a sweet spot of gameplay where there's tons of moves and things to do, but everything stays intuitive and exciting. There's not a lot of modes, and one of them isn't exactly mind-blowing, but what's there is a joy to play. What makes Roses so special besides the gameplay is how it also develops the personalities of its cast with far more than entrances and finishers. Voiced lines during matches, eye-catching designs and ludicrous yet endearing story modes fill each character with unforgettable appeal, and the Heel/Face system means you get to see different sides of them. In short, Rumble Roses a delight of a game, and nothing would make me happier than see it come back and on PC.
Rumble Roses is the best wrestling game i have ever played, the graphics, the female characters, the moves, everything was impeccable about it, makes you wonder why are there so much less games of the same stripe.
Sexiest, most brutal, ommphiest, magnificient wrestling game, and all female at that. No words can describe how much i enjoyed this game. The graphics, the stories, really, the stories. my favourite characters: Reiko Hinomoto, Makoto Aihara, Evil Rose, Dixie Clemets, Lady X, Noble Rose, Judgment
Great ps2 game! Fun wrestling and fun gameplay. Not about story just about very very strong gameplay that requires skill. The game focuses on fun over tedious exposition.

Hot hand-to-hand combat between elegant women like roses. The first time I saw this game was as a demo at a game shop. The flashy entrance demo was reminiscent of real professional wrestling. I was instantly captivated by the sight of strong, beautiful women using their incredible physical abilities to fight as if dancing gracefully like luchadors. I think it's a truly fantastic professional wrestling game.
I would love to see Rumble Roses be remastered or at least remade. It would be amazing. I remembered I got this game in the 2nd grade. I just had gotten my brother’s ps2 and he finally got a ps3 . So I asked my dad if he could buy me a WWE game since I was so into wrestling. I was shocked when I came back home and Rumble Roses was sitting on the table. I was super happy that it was an all girl wrestling game and the things in the ratings went over my head since I was only young. I didn’t care. I just loved that it was a wrestling game and it was fun.

Rival Schools: United by Fate
Rival Schools: United by FateThe main fighting game is best described as a polygonal Marvel vs. Capcom game, with some notable differences. Control wise, the game varies from other Capcom fighting games by only having four buttons (two punches and two kicks, which is closer to the SNK game format) rather than the standard six. A player chooses a team of two characters, and fights against another two character team. The actual fights, however, are one-on-one fights, with the partner only participating by being called in when a player has enough 'vigor' for a Team Up attack, done by pressing a punch and kick button of the same pressure. The Team Ups would be some kind of double team attack by the character and partner, or (for most female characters' Team Ups) would heal the main character or give them more vigor. After the end of a round, a player (win or lose) has a choice to fight the next round with the partner from the previous round, or to keep their main character in play. The 'vigor' meter (essentially a super meter) could go up to 9 levels, with Team Ups costing two levels and super moves from a single person all costing one level of vigor. Much like the Marvel vs. Capcom games, launchers can be done that allow air combos to be performed, with all characters having universal low and high launchers. The game also had a few defensive techniques. Tardy Counters acted much like Alpha Counters from Street Fighter Alpha, allowing a player to immediately counter-attack from a blocking position. However, the restrictions on Tardy Counters are very lax; any hard normal, special or super attack can be used to Tardy counter (Alpha counters are only limited to certain special moves for each character), and Tardy Counters do not cost any extra vigor to perform (Alpha Counters required at least a level of Super Combo gauge to do). Attack Cancels allowed a player to cancel an incoming hit simply by timing their own hit with the attack, which would cancel out both attacks (though it does not nullify the remaining hits of a multi-hit move). Also, one additional level of vigor is awarded.
