A truly preserved and modern version of this game would mean online play with rollback netcode and all of the guest characters, but rollback will be a challenge to implement, and Nintendo won't play nice and allow Link to be on other platforms. Still, it would be great to see the other two characters and maybe a model swap for Link. Even if there's no rollback, the offline version of the game deserves to be preserved on PC too. This was THE fighting game that everyone in my middle school and high school was playing when they weren't playing Melee. It's easy to learn and difficult to master, and the series really perfected most of what made it great all the way back with this second entry.
If GOG is going to add another 1v1 fighting game it should be this one, because it has tons of content and as far as I can remember it was well balanced. mind you there is character creation, and the OG game didn't have online multiplayer hence I don't know firsthand what it was like but other than that it is gorgeous in its visuals and soundtrack!

Despite the title, this game is actually a port of the first Mortal Kombat. This was likely done as a form of selling the product as a sequel, a common trait with unlicensed NES games. While the game is mostly faithful to the original game graphics-wise, some features were cut from the game. These include fatalities and blood which are found only in Mortal Kombat II Special. Also Goro is the same size as the other characters, probably due to the NES's limitations.New Action
