Spectrobes: Origins

Spectrobes: Origins (2009)

by Genki, Disney Interactive Studios
Genres:Role-playing (RPG), Adventure
Themes:Action, Science fiction
Game modes:Single player, Co-operative
Story:Spectrobes mixes monster battling with a real-time action RPG experience, so you'll not only be managing which critter is out on the field and attacking, but also running your main character around and participating in combat the feels like a mix between classic action battle mechanics and something like Monster Hunter lite. Different weapons allow the human leads to change up styles and elemental attacks, so you can have a leaf-based blade, an electric gauntlet, ranged cannon weapons and heavier bashing melee attacks. As you progress through the game not only will your Spectrobes gain levels, but your humans will as well. It's a constant balance of progressing not only your main character, but also all of your monsters too. Tie in a search and excavate system for finding new fossils with new Spectrobes and you've got a mechanic that is addicting enough to keep the experience moving; even if the levels themselves aren't always the most inspired areas to trek through.Show more

Logged into my old account just to vote for the series on this. The story is simple, honestly. I was a kid with a wii. Didnt get the first two games until i was an adult in a used game store, so my context for what was going on was shaky. You come away with a really weird take on the past plots if this is your only one lmao. But still, i was contantly between this and My Sims. Id sit and max out my fossil capacity and then hammer them all out- i could get most spectrobes with zero damage in under 30 seconds. I liked bouncing between worlds, I liked the guitar riff on the menu, i eventually looked up how to get all the special weapons and liked using them. Took me forever to actually beat the game because i was a small and dumb kid, but me and my ketobasu spectrobe Crocs reigned supreme. Its a fat chance to get these on GoG but one can dream

I got one of the first merchandise for the Spectrobes franchise from the day it was announced to exist. I’ve been a fan ever since! I grew up with the game, and played every version as soon as it came out. The Wii version was the best. I played that so many times. Being able to play it again would be amazing, and I’d love an eventual new game for the Switch2

As being probably one of the best games of my childhood, this game has the very best of games like pokemon as well as some unique tints for the gameplay. For a young boy who discovered this game, his unique history, his worlds and aesthetic i just wish this game should be on the list
Those games also need your vote!

Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation
Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of SalvationDragon Quest III is noted for greatly expanding upon the original Dragon Warrior and Dragon Warrior II. The game uses basic console role-playing game conventions, such as leveling up by gaining experience points and equipping items. Battle is turn-based like the other games in the series. Dragon Warrior III features a class system, in which each character has a certain class. While the Hero always keeps the Hero class, the other characters can choose among the following: Soldier (Warrior in the GBC version), Fighter, Pilgrim (Cleric), Wizard (Mage), Merchant (Dealer), Goof-Off (Jester), Sage, and Thief which was available only in the later versions. The choice of class greatly affects the character's stats and spells he or she can learn. Furthermore, upon reaching experience Level 20, a character has the option of changing classes at the temple of Dhama, found halfway through the game. The game starts with just the Hero in the party, who then is able to recruit a party of three at the local tavern. Unlike most Dragon Quest parties, aside from the Hero, the party is not made up of characters involved in the story. Although only four characters can be in the party at a time, extra members of the party can be kept at the tavern, allowing room for new recruits. Another innovation is an arena where the player can place bets on the outcome of monster battles. The remakes incorporated some interface changes from later games in the series, such as simplified door opening; the bag, which replaced bank item storage; the item sorting "Tidy Item" and "Tidy Bag" commands; and the "Full HP" command, which can be used outside of combat to automate the process of casting healing and status restoring spells. While the earlier Dragon Quest games were also non-linear, Dragon Quest III was the most substantial example of open-world gameplay among the early Dragon Quest games. It also allowed the player to swap characters in and out of the party at will, and another "major innovation was the introduction of day/night cycles; certain items, characters, and quests are only accessible at certain times of day."
