It’s a shame this game isn’t on GOG—its campaign alone is worth it. In my mind, this is the title that really launched eSports. I’m not sure how accurate that is, but I remember a time when only StarCraft and Counter-Strike tournaments seemed to be running. It’s a huge piece of gaming history.

This game and its sequel need to be on GoG, these games are too good to languish on Acti-Blizzard's launcher, and be properly preserved for for all to play. god now i feel i wanna go play them again and feel my childhood come back to me

I was lucky to have access to this game shortly after its release, despite always being a bigger fan of Command & Conquer, Starcraft is without a shadow of a doubt, one of the most important games I ever played. Not fully understanding English at the time made it difficult to make heads or tails of all the story bits, but while it wasn't the first game that made me realize the full potential of storytelling in video games, it did make me hopeful for the future of the medium even at a young age. I have some important memories of hosting LAN parties at my house, only having access to two PCs, organizing very basic tournaments with friends and family. It sparked a competitive spirit in me that, for the next few years, pushed me to plan and organize events that are still vivid in my memory. These events helped me shape a strong social life, that marked my first steps into adulhood and also helped me understand what it means to be an adult. Thanks Blizzard, hopefully one day we see you release this game on GOG and help more people keep this alive so more people can experience it!

Another game from the golden era of Blizzard that should've been here for a while. We know how important this game was for E-Sports, but the campaign is also worth it, i still remember and quote this game at times. EN TARO TASSADAR!

Being a large fan of Warcraft and Warcraft II, it was only natural that I would also love StarCraft. My brother and I would play over a local network for hours on end. Some of the fondest memories we both have.

It was an innocent age of pizza, PC games and LAN parties. Even hulking around the heavy CRTs was worth every drop of sweat. Set up, connect and go. And why did Blizzard kill the "you can join a hosted game without owning the game" feature? Those where the days

This game in its original form notbeing on GOG is tragic. It launched esports and consumed me and my friends in the 90s to play by lan party or even dailing up to eachother. It was one of the most enjoyable scifi settings of my teen years and I still meme quote units from it to this day at times.

What more can be said about this game that hasn't already been said. This is Blizzard's masterpiece that everyone has probably already played. Why bring it here then? For the DRM free experience of course ;)

My memory of this game lies in the campaign and the strory, not as much in skirmish and multiplayer. With great videos and voicover it did an impressive job telling the story. Not many RTS are able to deliver in this way!
Ohh I remember playing this with my father back when I was 8. None of us understood English, but we used to spend entire afternoons and evenings together trying to understand what the umpteenth mission was all about and how best to proceed in order to accomplish the objectives. This was back in 1998-1999 and if I have to bring back a memory, a piece of software that defined that era for me, this would probably be n. 2, after Half-Life, or Quake 2.
Those games also need your vote!

Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter
Breath of Fire: Dragon QuarterBreath of Fire: Dragon Quarter is a radical departure from the previous titles of the Breath of Fire series, and in some ways from standard Japanese-style role-playing games in general. The game is built like a huge dungeon crawler, with no overworld map. The combat is tactical: each character has action points (AP), which can be used to move around the screen during an enemy encounter, and perform a variety of combo attacks. There is no magic in the game, and many of the items found in dungeons are random. All the enemies are visible on screen. Depending on who first initiated a physical contact, the party or the enemies get an extra turn in battles. The game allows (and even encourages) the player to restart it from the beginning, keeping the items and the party experience. The game also features a special counter - Ryu can use his traditional dragon transformation abilities, but the counter raises with each such transformation, and when the counter reaches 100, the game is over. Raising the D-ratio allows characters to access new areas every time the game is replayed.
