The Terminator: SkyNet

The Terminator: SkyNet (1996)

by Bethesda Softworks
Genres:Shooter
Themes:Action, Science fiction
Game modes:Single player, Multiplayer
Story:SkyNET is Bethesda's last game based on the Terminator franchise. Originally developed as an expansion pack to Terminator: Future Shock, SkyNET eventually became its own standalone product. Its major features are an updated version of the Xngine allowing for play in the sharper 640x480 resolution (and the ability to update Future Shock to the same), a new single-player campaign, and a new multiplayer deathmatch component. In the single-player game, you must stop the machines from launching a recovered nuclear weapon. The story takes place over seven missions broken into various sections and "levels," with night progressing into daylight as the game goes on. The locations are also more varied and interactive than those featured in the first game, with levels like the basement of the Cyberdyne building, and a sinking nuclear submarine. Driving and flying levels return from Future Shock, as do the mission briefings, which are now handled entirely in FMV. The game seems to act as a prequel to Future Shock, with the most advanced technology and player weapons from that game not appearing in the course of the single-player missions in SkyNET. The multiplayer game allows for eight players over a LAN and two over IPX. The levels are contained recreations of sections or ideas in the single-player game, like a block of cityscape, a shattered freeway, or an open valley, and many can be played at either dawn or dusk. Vehicles are available in most levels, and unlike in single-player, can be entered and exited freely. You also have the option to play as a Terminator, with reduced movement speed, a little more toughness, and the classic red-tinted vision with information overlays.Show more

I remember first seeing this in "Secret Service" and just thinking that the title screen (terminator in flames) and the game seem super cool (I was/still am a big Terminator 2 movie fan). Then I think I got my hands on a demo from "Gambler" magazine (could be wrong here). I played it after Quake so the graphics didn't impress that much, but the the game had unique atmosphere that kept me coming back - dark, grey, hopeless post-apocalyptic world with destroyed buildings, no humans around, only killing machines. I showed it to my friend and he also got hooked. He managed to get a pirate version, unfortunately without sound and cut scenes (at least I think there were cut scenes;) and we played a lot at his place. I remember the game being somewhat difficult. Anyways, would love to finally hear the sound and see the cutscenes ;)

This game really holds up. Great exploration. Terminator theme is amazing. A smooth fps with great level builds and a great score. Would love to see this added to the roster.

This game is better than most people realize, and way ahead of it's time in a lot of ways. The live action video stuff is cringe, but the single-player levels are great, and the multiplayer can be a lot of fun too. The fact that it's basically a package deal with Future Shock (SkyNET provided a high-resolution upgrade to the previous game) is just more value.

This one bring memories. I even remember playing on LAN. The biggest surprise was when i tried playing as a Terminator. And i am a big fan of the series but Terminator and Terminator 2 are my favourite. I looked for it everywhere, even on abandonware sites but with no luck. Id love to play it once again.

Monty Python's Flying Circus: The Computer Game
Monty Python's Flying Circus: The Computer GameYou control Mr. D.P Gumby and, understandably, you have to get back his 4 pieces of brain. This is not easy. If it was, this game would not be a game of skill and fun, now would it? There are four skill levels to this game, a piece of brain is being held on each skill and fun level. The levels are all quite different in a skill and fun sort of way, but all have different things in common. Good things like sausages, eggs, beans, spam (skill) and cheese (fun) and bad things like dead parrots. Because each level is quite different in a skill and fun sort of way, Mr. Gumby cannot always walk, so, his body is changed to suit the surroundings. Like on the first level, where he is changed into a fish to swim in the maze like underwater caverns. When each level runs out there is no more, Mr. Gumby is changed back to normal (well normal for him) and he is sick, all the good things picked up along the way go in a big hole and are counted for points. Best of all though if you got 16 lots of spam Mr. Gumby can have a piece of his brain back. Then you have to do it all again.

Resident Evil 0
Resident Evil 0Be prepared to relive the first nightmare in Resident Evil 0, a remastered version of the popular prequel to the original Resident Evil game. This remastered version takes the fear-inducing atmosphere from the original 2002 release and transforms it with stunning new HD visuals, improved sound, widescreen support and an optional modernized control system and more. It’s the best way to experience the story of what really happened before the iconic mansion incident that was the catalyst for the entire Resident Evil saga. The story of Resident Evil 0 takes players back to 1998. Reports have been mounting about unusual murders on the outskirts of Raccoon City. The city’s Special Forces division, S.T.A.R.S., sends their Bravo Team - including rookie cop member Rebecca Chambers - to investigate. On route, the team’s helicopter suffers engine trouble and is forced to make a crash landing, where they find an overturned prisoner transport vehicle. Splitting up to search the area, Rebecca discovers the Ecliptic Express, a train stopped dead on the tracks. Inside, she meets death row convict and ex-Navy lieutenant Billy Coen. Throughout the game, you will take control of both Rebecca and Billy, at times switching between both characters in order to proceed. Learning the advantages of each character is the key to solving puzzles and surviving the nightmares that lie ahead.
