Whiplash

Whiplash (2003)

by Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Interactive
Genres:Adventure, Platform
Themes:Action, Comedy
Game modes:Single player
Story:Although Redmond (the rabbit) and Spanx (the weasel) are two animals chained together, the gameplay is much like any other platformer. The player controls only Spanx, using Redmond as a weapon or tool as the situation requires. Spanx has most standard platforming abilities, while Redmond is completely indestructible as a result of tests conducted upon him and so can be hurled into security guards, jammed into machinery, and used as a grappling hook, among other uses. Redmond can be inserted into special outlets to be set on fire, frozen, or become radioactive.Show more

I had this game for the original xbox when I was a kid. I also play this game using emulators quite often. A lot of the jokes went over my head as a kid but playing it now I can get a good laugh here and there. I would like to see a PC port of this game.

Hidden GEM right here, this classic action platformer has never been talked about by anyone I've ever met or seen online, which is a shier tragedy. This games humor is dated, I know because I'm replaying it with my girlfriend right now, but 80% holds up and the game play is so crisp and perfect. the only 3d platformer on it's level in the last 10 years is psychonauts 2. I had this as a kid on ps2 but never beat it, I aim to now as an adult but want to throw more money at this game because it deserves it. It deserves a new life, and new fans while keeping it alive for the old ones and that's where gog owns the market.

I found this game when trying to find titles with Mustelid/Weasel representation in them and proceeded to buy and complete it on OG Xbox. The wacky concepts and absurd theme of saving animals through animal abuse was hilarious, but what really sticks with me is the animations, character personalities, goofy albeit adultish jokes, dynamic music that's a blast to listen to, and some hefty, satisfying platforming action. Too bad the middle of the game SLAPS your butt with a ball-busting mess: the Shipping and Waste Department levels. Utterly horrific and confusing with their layout and how to progress in them. The final stint of the game was much better thankfully. All said and done, easily one of the best platformers on Xbox, and super underrated game in general. I'd love to see this on PC/GOG with slightly updated visuals, but even a straight port with widescreen support would be epic!

Dark humor in games is quintessential fun & wrecking stuff with a plushie is also fun. I only played it once, but I would love to play it again and add it to my mischievous game collection (Goat Simulator, Psychonauts, Katamary Damacy, Dr. Muto, Crash, Spyro, Penny's big breakaway)
Those games also need your vote!

FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.

Quest for Glory V: Dragon Fire
Quest for Glory V: Dragon FireAfter having survived the dangers he encountered on his previous journey, the hero travels with the wizard Erasmus to a Greece-like country called Silmaria. Its king was recently murdered, and, according to the land's traditions, the crown will be given to the one who passes a contest known as the Rites of Rulership. The hero enters the contest, aided by Erasmus, Rakeesh, and other old friends. However, as the competition progresses, contestants are being systematically killed by an unknown assassin. All the victims are murdered near the Dragon Pillars, which keep the Dragon of Silmaria in captivity. The hero must investigate the crimes and save Silmaria from a grave danger. Dragon Fire is the final game in the Quest for Glory series. Like the previous games in the series, Dragon Fire is a hybrid between puzzle-solving adventure and role-playing game. The player talks to the world's inhabitants, gathering clues and items necessary to acquire in order to complete the quests and advance the story. Unlike all its predecessors, Dragon Fire has no separate battle screens; the action-based battles take place on the exploration screen, utilizing a simple point-and-click interface, similarly to Diablo. The game has heavier weapon and armor management than other Quest for Glory games, strengthening the RPG angle. Many quests are optional or can be completed in different ways. The hero can also marry one of the several major female characters in the game, provided the player does the right thing to impress the girl.
