Yu-Gi-Oh! Power of Chaos: Joey the Passion

Yu-Gi-Oh! Power of Chaos: Joey the Passion (2004)

by Konami
Genres:Strategy, Turn-based strategy (TBS), Puzzle, Card & Board Game
Themes:Fantasy
Story:The third Yu-Gi-Oh! game for PC. It is also the final game of the Power of Chaos game series. The game includes 771 cards. This game is featuring Joey Wheeler as the opponent, adds new cards, new dueling choices, new dueling options and more Decks for the opponent, making this the Power of Chaos game with the most content. The cards from the previous two Power of Chaos games, if installed, are included. New game features include a ranked difficulty for the computer opponent, denoted by a star gauge in the Duel menu, which ranks from 1 star to 9. As you win duels, the difficulty increases, and the opponent swaps his Deck for a more potent one every time this happens. Later difficulty levels (8-9) allow the opponent to use different Decks in that same level. Losing consecutive duels results in decreased difficulty for the first time in Power of Chaos games. Other options include allowing the opponent to use cards from the previous two games, increasing the difficulty. Also, the option to make many Limited cards Forbidden is given, making the game more balanced. One other new addition to the game is that when you win cards that you already have, you may have a choice of getting different cards, or keep the ones you've earned. This can only be done when every card you win in a match or one card in a single duel is a common card, not new. Last, you can also duel a friend via LAN or via Gameranger.Show more

Yu-Gi-Oh was pretty big when I was in elementary school, and since the Power of Chaos games didn't require a powerful PC, pretty much everyone I knew had all three games. Joey The Passion was the one we played the most - aesthetically, it is probably the best looking old school Yu-Gi-Oh game and we all tried to find a way to print out the realistic card scans from the game to avoid spending money on real cards. When I wasn't at my friend's place taking turns playing against the AI with decks that just had a bunch of cards we thought were good, I would be playing it at home backed by a Winamp playlist of around 50 random songs. Nothing would beat listening to Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger while attacking directly with a high level monster equipped with Mage Power and United We Stand.
This game was one of the first Yu-Gi-Oh games I played on PC back in the day. I have fond memories playing it with my sibling and it blew our minds keeping us occupied for hours. The card collection system where you get random card rewards by winning Duels against Joey is fun and keeps you excited. I would love to see this and the other two games (with Kaiba and Yugi) on GOG not only for preservation's sake but also because they are a must play for any Yugioh fan and take you back to a time where Yugioh was less stressful with fewer combos and shorter turns so you can just chill out and relax. Also the soundtrack is a 10/10

I remember playing it a lot. Especially LAN option with a friend. Once had an 8 hour bus trip. Coach wi-fi as usually is very high latency for any real time game and low-throughput for anything of high bandwith. But it worked just perfectly fine when playing network mode versus my friend over hamachi (or something like that). Don't care if latency is in the hundreds of ms! Any other online-only, mmorpg-like YGO games did not stick to me like this one and I would love this to come back.
This game taught me the rules of Yu-Gi-Oh! I have so many memories playing it with my classmates in elementary and middle school. Joey uses a variety of deck depending on your progress, so it doesn't get repetitive. As far as I know, this game is abandonware. It would be nice to have a place where you could get it officially.
I Really wish it will come back someday i cant even think about how much hours i spent chasing cards in this game but sadly the only way to obtain this gem is through piracy which sucks because its never safe
One of the Yugi Oh games that i put most hours in during early college days. Man, i would play this over the new ones in a heartbeat. Plain offline with a friend over LAN was peak for me back then. It had dialogue as well which some of the new ones don't have now. It's simple enough to get you up and running without sacrificing the core gameplay. Please bring this game back, ill probably sink hundred more hours into it haha
Those games also need your vote!

Professor Layton and the Unwound Future
Professor Layton and the Unwound FutureAs with previous Professor Layton games, Unwound Future is an adventure game where the player solves puzzles offered by local citizens to progress the story forward, through dialogue and around 32 minutes of full motion video. The player moves about the game through still images of locations. The player can use the DS touchscreen to tap on non-player characters to start a dialog or to obtain a puzzle, and also can search anywhere on the background for hint coins, with some areas needing to be tapped several times to reveal a secret hint coin or puzzle. Puzzles are brainteasers of many varieties, including visual, math, and logic. There is no time limit to solve puzzles, and the player can get up to 3 hints at a cost of one hint coin each; a new feature in Unwound Future is a "super hint", costing 2 coins, that can only be bought after the other 3 hints have been revealed, but that nearly reveals the puzzle's solution. If the player is correct in solving the puzzle, they gain a number of "Picarats", a form of currency within the game. Guessing the incorrect answer will reduce the number of picarats the player can get on subsequent attempts. Players can visit certain areas in order to play undiscovered or unsolved puzzles that are left behind as the story progresses.
