I remmember having this game on my old PC. One of the first RTS that really blew my mind and made me laughing all the time. Right now I cannot play the original game, just the new updated version. One request - please - if possible - do not publish the reworked version currently available - it is atrocious - I'd prefer the original game - which had funny graphics and better controls.

It was not the innovative gem that its prequel was. Still, it was pretty fun to play. You still fight over a battlefield divided into zones, with more zones giving you not only more map control, but also more resources. This game adds a few new layers by permitting base building and using new unit types like helicopters. For me, it came at the wrong time, right when the market was being flooded with similar RTS titles, so it did not manage to stand out, unfortunately. If you decide to get into it, though, it really can take you along for a spin, and a really fun weekend. Voted for this to get proper treatment, the version currently available on steam is a re-port from an Android based port of the game, including the touchscreen based UI, which is... not ideal on PC.
Those of our readers with a long memory and a few grey hairs may remember the original Z, which was released way back in 1996. Although it was a real-time strategy game, Z replaced the now traditional harvesting and mining of games like Warcraft and Command & Conquer with a resource system based on occupying territory. Steel Soldiers does a reasonable job of bringing the novel gameplay of Z to a modern audience, but it's far from perfect and could probably have used a few more weeks of fine tuning. Even after installing the patch, it's still a bit awkward to control and lacks many of the interface niceties we have come to expect as standard in our strategy games since 1996. On the bright side the lengthy single player campaign should keep you busy for quite a while, and there are also a few maps available for multiplayer and AI skirmish games, which can be fairly entertaining as well. If you like your real-time strategy fast and furious and don't mind a few rough edges, this could be just what you were looking for.

Valkyria Chronicles Remastered
Valkyria Chronicles RemasteredValkyria Chronicles is a tactical role-playing game developed and published by Sega for the PlayStation 3 in 2008. A Microsoft Windows version was released on November 11, 2014. A remastered version for PlayStation 4 was released in Japan on February 10, 2016 with a Western release planned for May 2016. Both PC and PS4 versions include previously released DLC. The game is set in fictional Europa, loosely based on Europe during the early years of World War II. Because of its abundance of Ragnite ore, which takes the place of petroleum in the game setting, the neutral nation of Gallia comes under attack from the East Europan Imperial Alliance, which is itself engaged in war with the Atlantic Federation. Players take control of a unit of the Gallian Militia, dedicated to repelling the invasion. The game's visuals, which use Sega's CANVAS graphics engine, resemble pencil drawn paintings in motion.
