Weclock: I just got blade runner for PC - anyone have any tips for playing it on a modern computer?

Its my fav game so I will try to write sth. for you :)
First and most important – check CPU Grabber software – this game has some issues with newer computers. You need to slow it down in order to play some parts of the game (some important parts – you my not be able to finish that game without slowing down your CPU). I was using CPU Grabber and I slow down my comp to 10%. you can check if you are on the right speed in Shooting Range – if enemies appear normally (you do not need to wait 5 or 10 minutes for them) than you should be ok.
tip 1: finish game at least 5 times and try to act different each time. Also some characters are always android - some are random in each game session.
tip 2: DO NOT TAKE PRECONFIG TALKING PATTERN - switch it off and always have a choice while talking. That way you will be able to research each person properly
tip 3: watch movie and read a book before playing - it take so many stuff from those you will feel much better to play it after checking those two before.
tip 3: it is adventure game but you need to act fast in some places!
tip 4: check on internet how to do a proper Voight-Kampff test - its important
tip 5: listen to everything, check every picture properly, check every crime scene properly. Its a detective game, not point'n'click - you are gathering proofs, not items (except maybe 3 times in-game). And remember – to some clues you can access in few ways!
tip 6: Once again – Read book, watch movie (Directors cut I think will be best for this game – newest edition was not created since last year and this game is much older), play this game at least 5 times, always decide etc. This game has o many endings that its worth it :)
Have a good game – hope that helps

Weclock: whoa, that's a pretty hardcore list! Thanks, I don't have access to the book right now, I'm actually reading Snow Crash right now, but I do have access to the movie and will give that a watch and I'll read up on the book on wikipedia.

thats a pitty - some situation in game are taken directly from book or movie so better to know both stuff :)
I hope my list helps - if I remember correctly a good VC test sequence was sth like that
1 1 2 2 3 3 1 2 3 3
but better search online for it -> also do not remember callibration sequence :)
EDIT
I've check it -> two time red button for calibration, and then like I wrote above:
1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 1, 2, 3, 3

TheCheese33: I never got this game to run on my Vista, so I'm not so sure it will run on my W7...

Weclock: it seriously runs just fine on my comp.

because of you I will need to play that game again :) Thanks :)
Also did you try shooting range as I recommended? Its the only way to check if games is running fine before reaching first place when this actually matter.
Also good books you've get there :) All of them are awsome - start with "Do androids dreams...." ;-)

Weclock: I am enjoying the book rather well, and feel shocked at how good it is in comparison to the movie, the movie is like a doodle on deviant art, while the book is like the Mona Lisa.
I rewatched the movie recently and am still reading the book, and it is soo amazingly deep and the questions it raises are great.
I still haven't played the game, I don't know if I can once I read the book.

Play it - its not only movie adaptation but also book adaptation. :) You should feel great ^_^ Especially since now you know them both :)

rawkryptonite: Brilliant game, it does a good job of putting you in the environment. Piloting the car would've been nice, but still, fun game. The "mood" settings in the menu don't really do anything that I remember. I recently reinstalled it on my netbook (XP) and it runs perfectly. If you have issues, give compat mode a shot.
Enjoy the Esper, that's a personal favorite.
Portrait of the sleep deprived...

Just a little question - how exactly you see piloting a car in BR adventure game? There is no racing, no fighting - you've only fly from one point to another and you also can walk from point to point. People would get bored after like third flight (most of the gamers at least) and use autopilot instead. If you like to fly a car try "crime cities" :)

rawkryptonite: It would be nice to navigate through the city on your own. Not racing, just adding to the immersion in the environment. This was the main complaint when the game came out and I still wish we could do so.

I dont know - it would be nice once or twice but I think you eventually would get bored. Still I agree it could be fun for immersion :) I love those spinners! Its my dream vehicle :)
