We confirm that some legal issues have arisen with Second Sight. This has caused some of the other retailers to already remove the game from their offer. We're investigating this matter now, but it is likely that tomorrow we'll have to take down the sales page for Second Sight as well. If this happens we will do our best to re-include that great sci-fi paranormal thriller in GOG.com catalogue. As for now, we operate under the assumption that these are the final hours we can offer you this great game in our usual DRM-free, goodie-filled package. It's very probable that you'll continue to be able to download Second Sight from the catalog for the forseeable future--but if you're the belt and suspenders type, you might want to make sure you've got a backup stored locally, just in case.

SovietSharkey: Thank God I had installed on Steam then
You know, they de-listed it from sale there, too. :P

NessAndSonic: Licensing can be a real problem with games these days. Anyway, I was debating on whether I should have gotten Second Sight or Sands of Time earlier today. I chose SoT. Not sure if I lucked out on picking that one or not, since my internet's unpredictable. I'm not sure I would have been able to download Second Sight in time if GOG removed the download. Anyway, I hope this gets worked out soon.
The game will be removed from sale but if you buy it before it's removed you will still be able to access all the content of the game i.e. installer(s), bonus content.

Fuzzyfireball: You mean like they just did?

Nirth: Where? I thought a community member mentioned it and for the other games as well.
Right here:

Nirth: Ah, my bad. Thanks for pointing it out.
I aim to please :D

JMich: He's glad he has it installed since he's not sure if he'll be able to download it again from Steam :P
P.S. Did you try the XCOM Demo yet?
Not yet. My mother's in town from the USA. I don't think she'd approve. :P

Nirth: Why can't GOG warn us before they pull the games?
Uh... we are. This is your warning. The game is likely going down tomorrow.

kalirion: Well, your warning is post in a thread created by another user.

Something like this seems to deserve an official GOG announcement.
It's also posted in the subforum that relates to this game. Making a front-page post for this seems a bit much.

korell: Have to agree with you Kalirion, I think this is something that should go on the front page of GOG. [...]
As soon as we confirmed that there might be problems with the availability of Second Sight we announced it in its own forum right here. This should be enough of a warning for the people interested in this particular game. Making a big announcement that the game is being pulled might have resulted in quite a buzz and a great spike in sales for us--that's for sure--but we thought it would be in poor taste to scare our users into buying a game. Wouldn't you agree?

Apart from that, as I said earlier--we'll do our best to have it back on our offer as soon as it will be possible. Hopefully, we'll succeed.

EDIT:
Eh, Ninja TET strikes again. ;-)

Nirth: You know that users don't have auto-follow on sub-forums to games they don't own and this doesn't really affect those that already own the game so I think it's very justified to post it in General Discussion.
And lo: we have posted it in the general discussion. :)

yyahoo: Well, as has been mentioned, as a potential purchaser, I never would have looked in the games forum for an announcement like that. I even have to force the forum to display, since I don't own the game.

How about a compromise? An email sent out to all users who have a game wishlisted that is having licensing issues.
Legally, I suspect that would be a terrible idea. Also, what happens if we don't end up de-listing it because we manage to make some kind of last minute bargain? Then you'd feel pissed.

Either that, or "Esti ho phillos allos autos." which would explain our posting sync.
