The Secret of Monkey Island completed
I would gladly take the Special Edition but why no Mac version? It's on the Mac App Store...
This wish is completed? Ah! I don't think so...Who wants that SE? It's just garbage.
From what I hear, Venom considers this wish fulfilled. Again, you can vote for the ORIGINAL game using the link below (look for the URL amongst the HTML): www.gog.com/wishlist/games/the_secret_of_monkey_island_original
Perhaps the original creator of the wish, Venom (who works at GOG), consider this wish fulfilled.
This is not completed! The original game is still not available!
I didn't vote for the special edition of the game. The title is misleading and the wish isn't really completed.
Here's the wishlist entry for the original as a bonus, for those interested: www.gog.com/wishlist/games/the_secret_of_monkey_island_original
This isn't completed. The original version is not available.
I don't know... the Special Edition had its own wishlist item: www.gog.com/wishlist/games/the_secret_of_monkey_island_special_edition_1
I don't think its fair to assume that all of these wishes on this list equate to wishes for that remake/SE version.
Looks like we got this one. :D
This is the greatest game ever made.
I so want this on GOG.
yes and all of the LA games
I need this classic, I would buy them right now, the three first!
Yes! Add art of Purcell! And without title too! And from different countries!
Well, I have been hiding under a rock. So much so that I have no idea GOG existed (and what treasure it held) until last night! Imagine my surprise and delight when I saw not one, not two but three Gabriel Knight games for sale!
Obviously, I created an account immediately and bought all three. :)
These three games brought me hours of enjoyment during my school days. And the LucasArts games like Monkey Island and Indiana Jones series. And the more current, Grim Fandango and The Dig.
I would vote to have all the old LucasArts adventure games to be made available please.
A very long time ago in the 90's when I was around 6 years old, I played a point 'n click game. As I was very young I never noticed the game's name. Lately, I've been thinking of the said game with very fond memories, but only had two vague hints: It might be about pirates and I remember something about a bridge and a bar in a somewhat dark setting. That's it.
Today, browsing the internet, I stumbled upon a picture. It seemed very familiar and was called Monkey Island. I've heard of Monkey Island before, but I've never played the games. But I looked up The Secret of Monkey Island, and what is this? A bridge? A bar? Something with pirates?
I do believe the game I played in my young years was exactly this, The Secret of Monkey Island. I am thrilled that my search might finally be done. So please, GOG, do add this game to your collection of games.
LOL for the where's the voices gone...
But recommendations from another old geeser, just for the lovely puns already. Not sure how they managed the musics on PC, hopefully as good as on Amiga.
The original never had voices
(In reference to my previous comment) By the way, I'm not sure exactly how the Classic Mode of the Special Edition is different, but I remember hearing somewhere that it is, so I could be wrong.
I'm in. This is somehow THE adventure game, because even people who don't fancy point and click games too much, like it.
Bring this (and the other ones of course) to GOG please ;)
WannaWannaWanna
I'm all for Monkey Island.
Please bring this out here, the Classic Mode on Steam has NO VOICES WHATSOEVER and the graphics in SE are ugly as sin.
I was always a big fan of the Monkey Island series, would love to see all of them on GOG. Would bring back a lot of happy memories
@Hudfreegamer and @jcwgirl The Special Edition in Classic Mode is slightly different from the original, and besides, some GOG Users don't like Steam(Apparently, they're so anti-DRM that they don't like Steam).
original and CD version (with graphic inventory)
Just to note, the "original" included in the new Special Edition isn't the same as the one many people remember playing. It's definitely not the original game experience I had. It doesn't have the green verbs, and even the sound and music aren't the same. :( Bring the authentic one to GOG. :)
Monkey Island needs to be on GOG.
definitely want to see this game since it is probably my favorite game ever but with the 12 verbs and text inventory and correctly operation stump not the cd version.
In favor of seeing this game here since I don't use steam. I want the updated remake though with support for widescreen.
The Steam Edition is great! You can simply switch into classic mode and have the nostalgic feelings :-)
Just get the special addition on STEAM, then use classic mode :)
Was pleasantly surprised how they actually had managed to keep it so true to the original, was expecting the worst. Would be great to have it hazzle-free here on GOG if at all possible. Not exactly the smallest company to deal with. However, imo the right audience for a game like this one is right here on GOG.
The special edition is already buyable elsewhere. I would love to have the original (green verbs & text based inventory) version available here on GOG. Maybe add a jpg of the Purcell box art, and pdf of the manual? Dare I dream!
this game is on steam no ?
this is a old game with 256 colors but still love the game its from 1990.
I *ABSOLUTELY* want the textual inventory and the 12-verbs interface!
Preferably the Special Edition since it can be switched to the classic game anytime you want.
