Do not get bought by Epic Games.
i don't see how they would? its not like epic games is doing that good financially rn
Could happen still considering GOG kowtowed to Epic and removed all Unreal Tournament games.
Hopefully GOG knows their customers will run for the hills if some mega-corp like EA, Epic, Blizzard, etc buys their platform. By the way, what's the deal with these strange comments below about crypto scams? They should direct these shady offers on Epic's store since it's filled with crypto games with predatory monetization.
Communism is the enemy of humanity.
It has proved itself to be truly evil.
I would say the proof lies in mass graves in the form of millions decayed corpses in every former or current communist country. But we have so much more proof than that now that only those whom are ignorant or themselves evil can't see see this truth.
Are you ignorant? Or evil?
If neither then don't sell yourselves to the "devil".
I don't know what the situation but if you have to sell GOG sell it to Steam instead.
I swear that from this point I will buy games only here because I like the idea of Europe having own game store that can rival Evil USA Steam and Dictator China/Epic.
been using Epic Game store for about a year and just adding the weekly free game to my library, played one of them which was a roguelike dungeon crawler called Lost Castle, turns out while that game runs it uses huge amounts of internet bandwidth to send and receive data, its a single player game with a retro 16 bit aesthetic, theres no reason for it to be using gigs of data while playing, Epic Game Store is giving away really shady stuff
Think about it GOG started with DRM Free in mind, do they sound like shills to you? they could have chosen to pull an "Epic Store" if they wanted to with TW3 and CP but they didn't.
I'd invest in Gog if it keeps them from being bought out.
These guys are one of the few last bastions in gaming against owning what you pay for.
more like don't get bought by Tencents or any communist corpos.
I think we can safely mark this as "accomplished". www.theverge.com/2023/9/28/23894266/epic-games-layoffs-fortnite-unreal-engine

Don't get bought out by Steam/Valve.
We better hope one of those private investing companies don't buy out GOG games. That would be worse than EA and Epic games combined, this service would get gutted like a fresh fish out of water and ran into the ground.
GOG is a
Epic has too much influence by certain shady investment companies. Stay very far away.
that's not happening, don't get yo brains in a scramble
Seems more likely now, although on the Brightside epic will probably add more free giveaways to this.
Download every game you buy and put them on a cloud drive or local storage. Trust no one. If you do ever sell they wont get me. I download everything.
Please don't get bought by ANYONE. x2
Please don't get bought by ANYONE.
They're already owned by CDProjekt. They have no reason to sell.
And please don't get infected by Epic Games Launcher any further. Enough of this cancer spreading in old installers/editions. It's too bad.
What it's happening?
Did I miss something, guys? Is there something in the news? Is EPIC going to buy CD Projekt's GOG? Why is this topic here?
why would they
GoG its own shop, and Epic its own...
GOG team. i cast my vote because you have worked hard for this website and i want to be able to let my grandkids be able to buy from you one day so please sever the contract as soon as you possibly can, it is against your site, it is a betrayal to the people who have bought from you, what will they do if suddenly they can't play their games anymore? as for a refund? it will be thousands if not 100 thousands lost in this endeavour of getting bought by Epic this is my stand i hope to see that this wish is granted
They bought Bandcamp recently, which more or less is the equivalent of GoG for music. I think they'll buy GoG at some point, too, and there's nothing that we can do about it. CDPR really fucked up with Cyberpunk and is now taking the piss on their customers with the whole Epic Games deal they have going.
Do...Not...Seek...The...Treasure!
Do not get bought by anyone at all
Why would they
Do not get hijacked by Epic Games from the inside a well!
Neither do not get bought by PlayStation and Sony
Okay.
Everyone here has their gripes about Epic but my fear is TenCent getting ahold of my data should Epic buy GOG. After all, TenCent owns a lot of Epic Games stock and can have undue infuence in my opinion.
TenCent is a HACK games comapny that copies more successful games(see: rips off) and even doesn't do it competently like Naughty Dog. I mean if they did then they would be pushing TenCent made games outside of China left and right so in order to steal foreigner's money they have bought stock in Platinum Games and many other prominent game comapnies that we like. For movies they've paid for co-productions.with American movie companies.
I already addressed their connections at the beginning.
I'm really sorry Mkhuseli5k. It was a total slip of the finger. Or a spasm rather. Didn't mean to report your comment and I can't seem to get it undone.
Epic is a legacy game company but their focus is on live services. Not game preservation. If it had to happen then I hope CDP is bought by Embracer Group who care more about game preservation than live services.
Do not get bought by Embracer Group either. Don't get bought by anyone!
Seriously, Fuck those guys.
Dont get bought by Stem either, but Steam doesnt get a "fuck you" like Epic does.
Hey
Please don't.
+1
A sudden announcement to use the term "DRM" more loosely, less than a week later they form a very close partnership with Epic. They never did say this feature was in progress...
they got purchased by cd project instead.
I click on the weekly free EPIC game, but I'd never in my wildest dreams give money to them, I don't even include the games I have on their as being a part of my collection. GOG lacks A LOT of community features, but at least they have a nice MySpace 2005 layout, EPIC doesn't even let you have a profile pic lmaooooo. I do have a very real fear of GOG going under one day and I'll no longer be able to own my digital video games moving forward. But the Steam rental website will just have to do.
If GOG gets bought out by Epic, I will DL all current games and never purchase from GOG again. Epic does not care for its customers.
CD Projekt owns GOG.com.
<a href="http://GOG.com" class="light_un" target="_blank"><br />
GOG.com</a> cannot actually decide if or by whom it gets bought.
<a href="http://GOG.com" class="light_un" target="_blank"><br />
GOG.com</a> will go the way of Netflix if it became owned by a major publisher.
Epic lacks care and respect for the customer
I agree. EPIC is an awful company and I've had nothing but headache with their customer support refusing to follow their own policy. I will *never* give money to EPIC, and if GOG and EPIC become one company, I will extend that boycott to GOG. I can see from the comments here I'm not alone. Merging with EPIC would be the end of GOG. Run away. Fast. Severe this new shared platform agreement ASAP.
This is stupid. There is nothing about GOG worth anything to Epic. Epic Games Store is on another level, like it or not.
Damn, right now after fail of CP77 it's so close.
