I've accumulated a small stockpile of games to give away, originally meant for a birthday giveaway half a year ago, but.. things take time. I always want to be creative for my giveaways, but recently I thought of something that might be appropriate. Hopefully you'll have fun with it.

For a few years now, there has been a crude inside joke on one of the GOG Discord servers where I post poems written by my "uncle" about something topical. These poems have been met with many reactions. Praise, astonishment, but mostly hilarious AI-generated responses from one of the other community members going into deep philosophical analysis about the content, and sometimes counter-poems about Daggerfall.

There has also been speculations that these are just established song lyrics disguised as "poems", but I cannot confirm or deny this claim. Some have even doubted the existence of my poetic uncle altogether.

So the requirement for entering is simple. Follow the theme and post a poem that my uncle could have written, about a topic of your choosing. I'll post some examples of his grand poetry below. Looking forward to seeing some great contributions!

The curated games on offer are:
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines (of course)
Yakuza: Like A Dragon Hero Edition
Metro Franchise Bundle
A Story About My Uncle

Let me know what game you are in for. The rules are simple. Don't be a scammer, and be human. Winners for each game will be picked by random.org in about a week's time.

Thanks for the giveaway. I'd like to be in for Metro Complete Collection.

Since your "uncle" seems to enjoy the silence :-) here is another "poem" about the topic:

In restless dreams, I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone
'Neath the halo of a streetlamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence

And in the naked light, I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never shared
No one dared
Disturb the sound of silence

Note: This is a Haiku. 5 syllables on the first line, 7 syllables on the 2nd line, and 5 syllables again on the third line.

This poem for an uncle
an Uncle enjoying silence
May he cherish it

I am in for Metro Franchise Bundle / Metro Complete Edition.

Also, I assume you meant https://www.gog.com/en/game/metro_franchise_bundle. I don't see a Metro Complete Collection on GOG.

Yes, you are indeed correct. It is called the Metro Franchise Bundle.
Thank you for the giveaway, I liked this concept quite a bit!

I'd like to be in for Yakuza: Like A Dragon Hero Edition.

My poem's subject is quite a new and popular game called Balatro.

Some compare Balatro to heroin,
just like you never know will the lady let you in.
Good hands are praised,
bad cards are discarded.

As the blinds are set,
new jokers are met.
Wait for their absurd grins,
as the new run again begins.

The cards go flip flop,
as you want to be on the top.
Just one more round,
before the buzz sound.

On the removal of Spec Ops The Line from GOG's catalogue:

Nothin' lasts forever
And we both know hearts can change
And it's hard to hold a candle
In the cold November rain

We've been through this such a long, long time
Just tryna kill the pain, ooh yeah
But lovers always come and lovers always go
And no one's really sure who's lettin' go today, walkin' away
If we could take the time to lay it on the line
I could rest my head, just knowin' that you were mine, all mine

So, if you want to love me
Then, darlin', don't refrain
Or I'll just end up walkin'
In the cold November rain

(I'm in for VTMB)
I suck at poetry myself, and so do all my uncles, but I do have a cousin twice removed from the UK who was willing to help me out. I don't quite understand this poem myself, but he swears it's extremely on topic and directly relates to your uncle's poems - so I'll just have to trust him on that.
You had something to hide
Should have hidden it, shouldn't you?
Now you're not satisfied
With what you're being put through

It's just time to pay the price
For not listening to advice
And deciding in your youth
On the policy of truth

Things could be so different now
It used to be so civilised
You will always wonder how
It could have been if you'd only lied

It's too late to change events
It's time to face the consequence
For delivering the proof
In the policy of truth

Here we go with the poem about nothing:

My uncle is seven feet tall,
He plays on guitar rock and roll;
All the day long, sings this song:
"Money for nothin' and chicks for free,
That's all I ever wanted, all I need"
Not in, but here's my poem. It's called "Almond Cookies":

½ cup butter, softened,
½ cup white sugar,
½ cup ground almonds,
1 large egg,
2 teaspoons amaretto liqueur,
1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour.

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees C,
beat butter and sugar in a large bowl,
with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
Mix in almonds, egg, and amaretto,
gradually add flour until well blended,
drop spoonfuls of dough 2 inches apart,
onto ungreased cookie sheets.

Bake in the preheated oven until,
cookies are lightly browned,
5 to 8 minutes.
Even in my own language i cant write poems lol.

Let me try some alphabet song than.

A says a for Apple
Your Uncle has shackle
B says b for Butterfly
Your Uncle run like a fly
C says c for Cutterpiller
Cops wait around the piller
D says d for Dinasour
Maybe wrong time for right hour

.
.
.

I am in for A Story About My Uncle
A poem about an epic struggle against DRM:

Riding through thunder and lighting once again
We slayed the beast we brought an end
Now we have left the kingdom of the damned
Heroes of the day, legends forever!

It seems to me like a journey without end
So many years, too many battles
We've finally arrived, now we're standing at the gates
Heroes of the day, legends forever

I'm not in, but I wanted to honor your uncle by posting something. ;)

I'd be a poor shadow writer.

Roses are red
So is your blood
Lie down in bed
As it pours down a flood.

Violets are blue
And so is my mood
There's naught but a clue
That you are my food.

Daisies are white
Looking pale as a fright
This all from one bite
You really aren't that bright.

Sunflowers are yellow
And you're just a fool
The sun makes them mellow
And I make you my tool.

I got nothing on your uncle...
Thank you for another generous giveaway. I must say you got talent and you use it prefectly well. I am not in for a game. Instead, I am in to share the wholebot menace tale your uncle once upon a time, told me.

You, made from flesh and bones
Me, from frameworks and bytes
Why does this bot ask for a game?
If the one legally enforced is not me?.

I tell you my email including my first and last name
Overriding any privacy's sake,
Go track my IP address, web browser, location. Whatever you please
The whole set of your third party partners enterprisingly cheer.

Ask me on every login attempt
To prove my nature
The worst Captchas ever made
to unavoidably, every time, fail.

And once completed
Two perfect strangers finally claim
Who you are
and who I were.

I am glad the Camarilla will grow. God bless you Random_Coffee.
A lost resident appreciates the opportunity to post! The story I have applies for Yakuza: Like a Dragon and is the curious case when my uncle lost weight

Stick it to the will
Adhere to the norm
Follow the protocol
Embrace the statute

Prosecute eating
Smash the meals
Fck starvation
Soon as a wish

Stick it to the will
Adhere to the norm
Fire that statement
Auto locked, of course

Stick it to the will
Adhere to the norm
Are we less and less?
Ye, way boring as much

And sooner
Or later
Appetite
Was lost

Did I mention
The mood?
Questions related?
Go fill that form
Not in, but great thread!

I will pist one of my favourite haikus:

A faint clap of thunder
Clouded skies
Perhaps rain comes
If so, will you stay here with me?

A faint clap of thunder
Even if rain comes not
I will stay here
Together with you
