GamingKingJames: I know about itch, I used it before, but I still prefer GOG because it is literally the only DRM Free competitor to Steam. So when the time comes, I will likely just give full support to GOG when it's time for me to transfer over to PC. And as for the other sites you mentioned, every time I try to find "DRM-Free PC Sites" GOG is the only thing that pops up. And yes to use GOG Galaxy you need the account. And like I mentioned above, I am using my game with the offline installers but my achievements still update, but achievements aren't that big of a deal to me considering its only for one game.
There are a few others, but obviously far smaller. There was a list thread here, but it got locked once the policy of not linking to competing stores was enforced.

Well I just checked the thread, most of the sites seem to be selling smaller game types. I think its fair for me to say that in general, GOG is definitely the best DRM Free PC site there is. So with that in mind, does me buying GOG Keys outside of the GOG store still benefit the GOG company? If so, what are some good places for me to go and buy them?
This must be an alt-account of that other guy (LuFISoMo) who asked the exact same "zero-sense-making" question(s).

I have no clue who that is. Before you go around accusing me of being an "alt", you better have some proof to back that up, which you don't.

eric5h5: Not sure why you'd need to do that. You could always just, you know, not delete your account? Kind of a weird thing to do.

GamingKingJames: I wanted to buy single player games and not have it be tied to anything, that's what I thought GOG was like.
You purchase a game, it's yours. You can go to your account, download the offline installer, and put it on a backup drive.

Because there's people that like to say that you don't own a DRM-free GOG games anymore than you own a DRMed Steam game, I'm going to add that nobody is going to show up at anyone's house to delete backups if a game is delisted. You bought it, the game is still yours to play.

My only concern was if I still owned the game AFTER I deleted my account. So lets say I delete my account and make a new one in the future when I am ready to switch to PC games, and I add my offline installer to GOG Galaxy using the exe file, would GOG ever be like "Hey, we need to see that you obtained this game from us or we will have to ban you" or is that the exact opposite of what GOG does?
No because GOG Galaxy wouldn't know how to check if your copy was legit or not. This would include DRM-free games bought independently from other places like itch, FFG, or ZP.

If you want to avoid such a worry, don't use a client in the first place. And don't make 2 accounts, just keep the first one.

You're hyper-overcomplicating things here.
Keep in mind that if you do backup all your offline game installers and delete your account you will be unable to get any updates to the game, so if you are say download the current version of Terraria and then happens to be another Terraria update you will have to buy the game again or find a way to get the update for your game.

So while you do own your games in the form of offline installers you will lose some potential benefits of keeping your account.

Also with the 2 account thing I think you could just test it by making another account and seeing what happens.

The game that I got from GOG is pretty old and its single player only, I don't need to worry about having to update it, I think.

I will just delete this one and make another when I am ready to switch over, my only intention was to get the GOG game that I wanted to buy without having to make an account or anything.

There is no way to get a legitimate copy of a GOG game without making an account here first.

I'd suggest you don't delete your account and forward questions to the staff about how Galaxy interacts with executables. This would save you another 2-4 weeks waiting time after submitting a ticket to delete your account and then remaking your account later on anyway.

If you're worried about spam or compromised data, turn all your subscriptions off and change your email to a burner that you can remember. That way, you'll be able to recover your account in the future.

I cannot understand why anyone would want to delete their account except in very rare cases such as for protest, addiction, or death.

Why do you need a new account? What is wrong with your current account?

You need an account to buy and download a GOG game, so no you can't buy a GOG game without an account, sorry.

So basically I tried to buy a GOG game thinking I did not need an account, but I did need one, so I went ahead and made one, but then I found out that I can just download the offline installer which will always be under my ownership, so I can just delete my account and still play my game. I just wanted to make sure that I am still allowed to use my offline installer after my account no longer exists.

But I only have one game under my account, its not that big of a deal if I just wanted to buy the one game and then just remove my account right? Considering I have the offline installer and can just make a new account whenever I feel like switching over?

I'd argue that because it takes Support 2-4 weeks to delete your first account for no other reason than to "test it out" that it's a waste of Support's already tied up resources when they can be solving bigger support questions with other users' games.

But hey, that's your prerogative.

Is your preoccupation associated with your data protection? Is that why you want your account to be deleted after it?
If yes I'd say its a reasonable excuse, albeit not many people care about this nowadays.

Just curious, really.

"You need an account to buy games on GOG? Clearly a layer of DRM. Bad GOG for supporting DRM!!!11"

lol :P Jokes aside, I'd like to see a store which also focus on full consumer anonimity. Such as accepting disposable cards, and so on.

No longer want to test anything out, someone told me that my offline installer wont update anything if I used GOG Galaxy anyways. Usually I would just do it myself but there's no option for me to manually do it

That is somewhat of the reason, in general I just don't like having accounts open if I don't actively use them. If I ever came back to GOG I wanted to test my offline installer with achievements but that was already answered.
