I'm more familiar with Bushido Blade 2. I had a friend who introduced me to a couple PS1 games. This was among those I kept enjoying. Bushido Blade 2 I actually played before the original. You get a campaign that has different final bosses to a degree. You also get a mode to defeat a lot of enemies in one setting. It's a more realistic weapon based fighting game. I could argue it rivaling Soul Edge which I also had on the same system. The stages are mind blowing well designed. The audio as a whole always stuck with me for years. Easily among the best fighting games on the system. You get a great roster of characters. To me this was better than the original Bushido Blade. It's a shame Square Enix never released this franchise. I know a lot of people that absolutely would love this!!!

This was one of the best sword-fighting games ever created. Outstanding character roster, great fighting mechanics and its replay value is absolutely priceless.

Bushido Blade and Bushido Blade 2 were a blast to play! Unbelievable underrated games. One good hit and you are dead, yes, but it just worked and was absolutely fun! It had a lot of different characters, a couple of hidden ones that were challeging to unlock, not to mention the Bosses, each with their own gimmick. There were different weapons other than the katana. Discovering what character were better with which one was part of the fun, as well. Playing versus a friend always resulted in some hillarious moments. Simply, there are no games like these two that I know of.
Those games also need your vote!

Dead or Alive
Dead or AliveDead or Alive is a fighting game and the first entry in Team Ninja's long-running Dead or Alive series. Its most defining features were its speed and countering system. Dead or Alive put an emphasis on speed, and relied more on simplistic commands and reaction time. Furthermore, its countering system was the first in the fighting genre to utilize different commands that corresponded to each type of attack. There are two kinds of holds, an Offensive Hold (OH) and a Defensive Hold (DH). The latter are executed by holding back or forward on the directional pad along with the guard input to either force away or counter-damage an opponent. The Playstation port of the game was later backported for arcade and titled Dead or Alive++.
