Dune 2000

Dune 2000 (1998)

by Westwood Studios, Electronic Arts
Genres:Strategy, Real Time Strategy (RTS)
Themes:Action, Science fiction
Game modes:Single player, Multiplayer
Story:Real-time strategy taking place in Frank Herbert's "Dune" universe. The game is a remake of a classic RTS game "Dune 2". Player can play as a commander of one of three different factions: Harkonnen, Atreides or Ordos. Do you like the feeling you get when you have won over someone? If it was something that we had really worked hard, then the fell of victory is something precious and incalculable. The game Dune 2000 could help in giving your competitive spirit a new edge. It is an updated version of the Dune II. In this game the player would have to fight for an interesting thing; the control of the spices in the galaxy. The spices control could make you the most powerful there. The player has to choose to be one of the three houses first: Atreides, Harkonnen, or Ordos. Each house has its own vice and virtue and the right selection could give the player right start to the game but he could learn as well as, later in the game with time. Once you choose a side, you to win the King’s challenge of producing the most amount of spice. It won’t be as easy as it sounds. For getting the control of the spices, the player has to fight over the other two houses by all means. Dune 2000 is done with enough of stunt and live-in scenes to pep up the theme and there is a soothing sound score to add to the overall theme. It’s a game based on the Dune series book of Frank Herbert and gives the player a real pleasure of both combat and competition.Show more

This is the first great RTS of all time. I don't mean that it's perfect, but every time you play it you will learn how the genre has evolved and the amount of concepts that were copied from it.
OpenRA already supports Dune 2000 with a lot of excellent new features, but it doesn't have all the campaign missions and you can't see the FMV's in full screen. I really want to replay this in all it's glory so I would very much welcome a GOG version that supports widescreen, full screen FMV's and some QoL improvents to the game!

I loved it so much back in the day, it quickly became one of my favorite games of all time and I started being interested in RTS thanks to this and Dune II. I really hope you can bring it back!
I seriously hope to see this on GOG sometime in the future. I must have sunk into this game almost the same amount of hours I have into the original StarCraft, and I was 8 or 9 back then! This brings a lot of good memories and I listen to the soundtrack (which I hope I'll be able to get on GOG in the goodies section) to this day!

I absolutely loved Dune II: Battle for Arrakis on the Sega. Later, I found out there was a similar game on PC. At some computer club (its like internet cafe today, only without internet), I got to play Dune 2000 for just a few hours before my time ran out. Eventually, I got a PlayStation One, which also had Dune 2000. The graphics were a bit different, simpler in some places, but more 3D. Moving the camera left or right slightly revealed the sides of buildings, and tilting it up or down changed the size of structures, making them appear smaller when viewed from above. On the PC version, the perspective was strictly top-down. Funny enough, by that time, I had already played PC games at friends’ houses, and I found it hard to believe that RTS games like this could even be played with a gamepad. But as it turned out, you could. The soundtrack was amazing. As far as I know, both the PlayStation and PC versions had the same OST. Anyone who played the game probably remembers that legendary music, nearly every track was great. I still remember the epic guitar solo mixed with synths in Rise of Harkonnen. Years later, when I finally got my own PC around 2003–2004, I wanted to buy Dune 2000 for PC. But by then, it was no longer sold on discs. Steam and other digital platforms weren’t around or maybe they were, but I didn’t have internet access. Nowadays, of course, we have Steam, GOG, and other services. But Dune 2000 is nowhere to be found. It’s a shame that there’s no legal way to buy it. I really want to go back and finish what I never completed as a kid.

Really nice sequel to Dune II which is an RTS classic on its own. I enjoy video sequences in this game with memorable actors cast. John Rhys-Davies plays Noree Moneo (mentat of the Atreides), Musetta Vander plays Bene Gesserit Lady Elara and Nancy Valen plays Fremen commander Kari.
this was the game that got me into the 'dune' universe, prior i hadn't read any books, i went in with a fresh mind and loved it. of course, i always loved watching the classic live action cutscenes as per command and conquer with top quality acting from john-rhys davies (gimli from lord of the rings), vanessa marshall (olga from metal gear solid 2) and richard marcus (nestor from tremors)

Buckshot Roulette
Buckshot RouletteBuckshot Roulette is a tabletop horror game that attempts to re-design the infamous game of Russian Roulette, replacing the traditional revolver with a proper 12-gauge pump-action shotgun. This extra firepower, and more importantly the different mechanics in handling a shotgun compared to a revolver, offers a fresh take on the classic and deadly game of chance. The game takes place at the top of an underground nightclub, where the metal railings tremble to the pulse of long lost drum machines. A crooked AI dealer is waiting for you. Will you meet them?

The more rare the items and equipment, the stronger the main physical aspects of the character will be. Unlike other hack 'n' slash games, this game requires planning and skill in order to overcome large monsters instead of brute force. There are many weapons which the hunter can use to bring down the monsters, these are sword and shield, great sword, dual swords, hammer, lance, bowgun and the heavy bowgun.
