Twisted Metal

Twisted Metal (1995)

by Eat Sleep Play Inc., SingleTrac, Sony Computer Entertainment
Genres:Shooter, Racing, Fighting
Themes:Action, Thriller, Survival
Game modes:Single player, Multiplayer
Story:Twisted Metal consists of a series of arena-based battles against an increasing number of opponents in increasingly large arenas. These battles culminate in a face-off with the winner of the previous year's competition, Darkside, who drives a large armored car which fires multiple missiles at once. Players can choose one of 12 different vehicles with which to enter combat. Each vehicle has a distinct driver and special move. The controls consist of accelerator, brake, "tight turn" (essentially a handbrake) and turbo on the face buttons, with main weapons and machine gun selection and control on the shoulder buttons. Arenas are populated with weapon pickups to re-supply missile stocks, repair stations for repairing damage to your car, pedestrians, and course stewards armed with either machine guns or missile launchers.Show more

Did you know that Twisted Metal actually has a PC port, but it's exclusive to Japan for some reason? It works just fine, too, so this one is a totally viable option (licensing issues aside, whatever they may be).
I Remember Getting This Copy For Free On PC, It Wasn't As Great Playing On PC As It Was On PSX, But.. It Was Still So Much Fun In Multiplayer Mode Even Single Mode, I Think Its Time We Get The Whole Series Remastered On PC, Imagine Playing Them On Steam Deck!

The original Twisted Metal that started something big. The genre is virtually dead but back then. This jump started a new trend among driving games. Originally going to have live action FMV endings. Which were later released through Twisted Metal: Head-On Extra Twisted Edition on PS2. This was one of Dave Jaffe's first video games. The audio kinda sticks with you for many years. An interesting roster of characters. A small variety within the stages. Twisted Metal can be somewhat frustrating. But it's so satisfying to keep pushing forward taking out your opponents. This was an early PS1 game not quite launch title. Parts of this game holds up well with some aspects becoming more dated overtime. Honestly, it's a fun time especially you wanna blow stuff up.

This is the first PlayStation Exclusive to ever come out on PC. It's so ancient that nobody knows, because of how rare it is. I played this back in the day for hours on my PS1 days and it's just...chaotic fun all-around. F@#K, I miss the old Twisted Metal game. This will be hard to port, no doubt, because of how rare the game is on PC. Maybe Nightdive can look into it, I suppose.

Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy
Psi-Ops: The Mindgate ConspiracyPsi-Ops is an action game with a twist: no longer do you have to rely solely on big weapons and explosions to progress through it - you also have the aid of psychic powers to take down army after army of enemy soldiers. In the game you take the role of Nick Scryer, a secret agent who had his face reconstructed and mind wiped clean in order to infiltrate a growing psychic organization calling itself The Movement. Nick, however, is captured, but manages to free himself and continue his mission to stop The Movement, regaining his psychic abilities along the way. The game mixes regular weapons with the weapons of the mind. You'll have access to a series of mind powers, such as Telekinesis (the ability to fling object and soldiers around), Pyrokineses (the ability to set things on fire), Mind Drain (for draining Psi power out of foes' minds) and Remote Viewing (leaving your body behind and exploring the level).

Extreme Assault
Extreme AssaultSet in a futuristic theater of war, Extreme Assault guides the player through six totally different operation zones, each sub-divided into multiple missions requiring the completion of a variety of exciting tasks. Objectives range from destroying all the enemy units in a given area, to rescuing hostages, defending towns, pulverizing hidden bases, and even engaging alien forces! At times you'll also find yourself in restricted quarters and have to transfer from your lethal Sioux AH-23 attack helicopter to the awesome T-1 battle tank. Each vehicle is heavily armed with a vast array of weapons ranging from Laser Guns and Guided Missiles, to enormously powerful Smart Bombs and Thunderbolts. And I haven't even mentioned the graphics!
