A technological marvel of the time and a game like no other, from character design to soundtrack, from artistic direction to gameplay, Vagrant Story pushed every limit of the Playstation era to create a fascinating, atmospheric and challenging adventure on every level. Vagrant Story was Dark Souls before Dark Souls even existed, a game with its own achievement system a decade before they became a thing, the interactive missing link between cinematography and comic book narrative, one of the only games that fully trusted the player's imagination and intelligence like no other title ever since. Vagrant Story did on a single CD what no modern game will ever be able to do. I am proud to be part of the elite few in the world that has finished this title.
My favorite game of all time. A beautiful dungeon crawler, wonderful story by Yasumi Matsuno, with a deep battle system. Sure it could use some quality of life improvements.
One of the most amazing games you have/will ever have played. Back in the golden age of single player epics we had this absolute gem! I have struggle dto find anything that's held my attention and actually made me want to play it through more than once (I'm guessing I hit about the high 40s) I really hope this gets a re-release on pc it needs it dearly so that we can share this gem with a new generation.

Dude, this was such an innovative RPG game. I have no clue why there hasn't been a sequel, remaster or remake yet. The sound design was epic and deep. And character grafic design is so special, it's from the same guy who designed Final Fantasy XI or XII (on of these, not sure atm). Yes, it was quite challenging, but we have lot of challenging games today. You could integrate different difficulty setting today in a remake - WHY NOT? This could be a series.

One of the best games of all time. Seriously, it should be a crime that you can barely play this game without emulation or an older console. Vagrant Story is one of those games that sticks with you. I could deep dive into the technical challenges, the comic book aesthetic, the amazing and challenging combat system, but I doubt I could find the words to properly do it justice. I haven't even touched on the story, the amazing writing and characters. Ashley and Sydney alone make this game worth playing. I mentioned the combat, but this game provides a good challenge, it will make you think and test your knowledge of the games systems and mechanics, but it never feels cheap or unfair. What else can I say? The music is so good, I listen to the soundtrack fairly often. I suppose I have to mention this? Vagrant Story was primarily developed by the team responsible for Final Fantasy Tactics, with Yasumi Matsuno serving as director, producer, designer, and writer. Yes, there is Ivalice connections in the game. What more can I say to sell this game? Go watch the opening movie and tell me it doesn't get you hyped to play the game. Please, please, bring back Vagrant Story!

This is a game I keep close to my heart, the striking design of the characters and the world, with strong cinematographic presebntation, the music is not only beautiful, is dynamic and will change depending on the tone of the conversations, there are no voiceovers, but the shakesperean writing paired with the provocative narrative will keep you yearning for more. The combat is unique among action rpgs, the crafting system is a horrible mess, but I just love this game too much to not remember it fondly, maybe in a parallel universe we have a remaster or remake, but since we are is the dark timeline all we can do is languish in nostalgia, I just bought Ivalice apócrifa 2 just to get more Vagrant story in my life.

It's an absolute crime this only has 1289 as of me writing this. I'm lucky that I have the original game and a PS3 to play it on. No game since that I'm aware has replicated the action turn based combat. That is its not just selecting an action and the character doing it, you would have the chance to chain your attacks with good timing but doing so increases RISK which in turn increases the chance the enemy cannot miss and the damage they do. There are items to reduce risk but these were saved for tough encounters. There's also an in-depth weapons system that at base increases the damage against particular enemy types when they hit that enemy type. They could also be heavily customised with mods (grips, pommels etc.) that change the damage to enemy types. There is also a blacksmithing system that can create new and unique weapons. Since no playthrough guarenteed dropping the items you needed there was also a rogue-like element to the game.

Shadowrun
ShadowrunShadowrun is an action role-playing game.It was adapted from the cyberpunk role-playing game Shadowrun. The game is the second video game adapted from Shadowrun, and has a more open ended style of gameplay than its 1993 Super NES counterpart, Shadowrun by Beam Software. The game is set in the Shadowrun universe, in the 2050s. A time where the blending of technology and human flesh is common; it is around the time the Matrix, a huge computer network, came online, with the ability to jack into its cyberspace directly. It was also a time of magic renewal: a phenomenon known as The Awakening occurred, where magic returned into the world. Sorcery was once again possible, and slowly and seemingly at random humans began to mutate into orcs, dwarves, elves or trolls. This time of upheaval was not without political conflicts: mega-corporations began to control the world. But with their magic, native shamans threatened them and the world geography came to a complete change. The Amerindians and Elves reclaimed an area called Salish-Shidhe, close to the free city of Seattle, a major city in the newly formed United Canadian and American States.

Siren
SirenThe story revolves around an interconnected cast of characters that possess a power which enables them to see and hear what a nearby character sees. The game was followed by a PlayStation 2 sequel, a reimagining for the PlayStation 3 and a film adaption. Siren is divided into stages, each taking place in one of ten areas in the village of Hanuda, and organized chronologically in a table called the "Link Navigator". In order to complete a stage, the player must accomplish a primary objective that usually involves reaching an exit point, subduing undead enemies called "Shibito", or finding an item. Objectives in different stages are interconnected via a butterfly effect, and a character's actions in one stage can trigger a secondary objective in another stage. There are miscellaneous items scattered throughout each stage that give the player further insight into the plot's background. Once obtained, these items are archived in a catalog and can be viewed at any time during the game's duration. The game's player characters possess a psychic power named "sightjack," which enables them to see and hear what a nearby Shibito or human sees and hears, and thus pinpoint its position, as well as gain knowledge of their activities and of the position of obtainable items. The clarity of each target depends on the distance from the player character. Once a point of view is located, it can be assigned to one of certain buttons of the controller to easily switch between multiple points of view. However, the player character is unable to move during use of the ability and is thus vulnerable to attack. The game encourages the player to avoid Shibito rather than fight them. Characters can walk silently, avoid the use of a flashlight, and crouch behind objects to elude detection. Certain mission objectives require the player character to use items and/or the environment to distract Shibito from their activity, in order for them to achieve a goal. Others require the player to escort a non-player character. Player characters can also shout at any time in order to get the attention of nearby Shibito. Within most stages, the player character can hide in certain places such as cupboards and lock doors to prevent Shibito from entering. When a Shibito hears a sound made by the player character, it will search in the direction from which they heard the sound. If a character is seen by a Shibito, the latter will pursue the character to kill them either with a melee or ranged weapon or by strangulation. The Shibito will also shout to alert other nearby Shibito. Once the character has remained out of the Shibito's sight for a period of time, the Shibito will give up and resume its usual habits. Weapons are available for the player throughout the game, ranging from melee weapons to firearms. While Shibito can be knocked out in combat, they cannot be killed and will reanimate after a short period of time. If a character is injured, they can recover after some time has passed. Characters will lose stamina during combat and while running.
