Maybe my favorite thing Ubisoft has ever made. I know Watch_Dogs 1 has its fans but I am absolutely not one of them. That being said, from the second I saw gameplay of this (and then played it at someones house) I knew it was overcompensating in the best way possible. One of the few open worlds I actually don't want to drive around in and instead stop and smell the (digital) roses on foot and filled with enough details and incentives like landmark photography for XP to make just that alone worthwhile; SongSneak is an idea Hideo Kojima would be proud of. I've spent hours just wandering about this version of San Fran and messing around with the NPC behavior, which has some ideas that predate Red Dead Redemption 2!
When its time to get into the story, the arcadey mix of MGS and Deus Ex: Human Revolution is really something-- play this on hard or realistic if you can and try and keep things non-lethal (which means no melee, for some reason!) for the best experience. Turning the Ubisoft Stealth Game Experience(tm) into this brutal smash and grab does a lot to freshen it up.
Unfortunately there is a risk this game could just rot and become unplayable. Besides just showing no further interest in the series, and the usual Denuvo shenenigans of releases from this era, this game is now experiencing severe issues on newer hardware, especially Nvidia. It was already not the most performant game in 2016 but not only has that not really improved, rendering is completely broken on newer RTX cards with no fix in sight. I hope this comes to the platform just for a shot at preserving one of the 8th gens best open worlds in the future.
