I'm trying to set up a multiplayer game between two PCs on my home network using EasyTutu. However, when I try to have one player join the other's game, I receive a version not matching error. I'm not at home, but the error looks something like:

Server version: 5.03456216163
Client version: 10023413516.0314

EasyTutu is the only mod installed, so there shouldn't be any other installations mucking it up. I also know that it is in't a network problem, since I can create and join multiplayer games using vanilla BG1 and BG2.

Am I missing something? Or does EasyTutu just not play nicely with network games? If that's the case, how does BGT work for multiplayer?

Did you install BG1 and EasyTuTu separately on both computers, or did you simply copy one or both over?

I installed BG1 and 2 separately on both computers (no mods and both game installers from GOG), then installed EasyTutu separately on both, and saw the error. After that, I tried copying the EasyTutu folder from one computer to the other, but still ran into the error. It might be worth noting that the drive letters for each computer are different, so I had to edit the baldur.ini file on the EasyTutu copy to point to the right drive locations. Could that have mucked it up?

Well that's a little bit confusing, because if you installed all instances seperately, on 2 different computers, the baldur.ini should not need to have been edited. The installations would have recorded the respective hard drive letters, in BG1, 2 and TuTu.

Sorry, I wasn't being very clear! The first run through I installed BG1, BG2, and EasyTutu on each computer separately. I did not have to edit the .ini file.

The second time, I removed EasyTutu from one of the computers, then copied EasyTutu from the other computer. That's when I had to edit the .ini file.

In both cases, I had the error described above.

Ah, right. Unfortunately, that puts the lid on my theory of why you were getting the mismatch error. I can't think why else it would do that.
So, I tried one more time tonight. I removed EasyTutu and uninstalled BG1/BG2 from both computers. I re-installed BG1 & BG2, then EasyTutu. I copied everything over to the the second computer (this time I put them in a matching drive so I didn't have to edit the baldur.ini). Long story short: no dice.

I'll try BGT and see if I have better luck! Thank you for the help, Hickory!

For the sake of anyone who might come across this problem in the future, here's the exact error message I see after joining the network game and then being kicked.:

The multiplayer session has been terminated. The program version numbers for the server and client programs do no match.

Server program version: v5.103399738
Client program version: v10258309.11152503

That's a heck of a discrepancy there. Are you certain that the installation files (BG1 and 2) on both computers are identical? Is it possible that they were downloaded at separate times, and may actually be different? You should try uninstalling everything, then install on the first computer. Then transfer THOSE installation files over to the second computer, and install them. Also, be absolutely certain you have no mods or patches installed when you install TuTu/BGT. It must be virgin installations... no exceptions.

That's how I ran the install the first time. I downloaded the installers from GOG two days ago and used them on both computers. They were fresh installs, no mods. I'm certainly open to the idea that this is user error - it does seem the most likely explanation - but unfortunately I'm not sure where I went wrong.

I installed BGT yesterday, and was able to start and play a networked game with a second human player, so my main goal is achieved.

While hunting around for an answer, i found one person on the GOG forums and one person in the Pocket Plane BG1Tutu Bugs/Support forum who ran into this issue with a version mismatch, but they didn't find a solution, either.

Im having the same problem.

One machine is Windows 7 the other Windows 8. Vanilla BG2 works fine (we haven't tried BG1).

I uninstalled everything and reinstalled BG1 and 2 on both machines so i had a clean install to start from.

I then ran easytutu on both machines, checked all the settings were the same (i had to set the difficulty and 3d graphics settings on one pc but not the other??) and tried to play a multiplayer game.

The player connects to the hosted game and then immediately gets kicked for having a different version number.

Although the version number is always the same with one pc (2.5.26498) the other changes when it is the host (6.46055148) or the client (v10258309.11152503).

Does anybody have any idea what is going wrong?!
