Hello, and thank you in advance for anyone who might be able to solve my inquiry,

I am attempting to run Baldur's Gate in a resolution similar to that of the vanilla game, only widescreen 16:9 instead of 4:3.

So here is the issue I am having. I started testing resolutions starting with my native 1920 x 1080 and worked my way down to 1280 x 720. All resolutions down to 1280 x 720 displayed properly, but I found that I still wanted to be closer to my character while still maintaining a 16:9 aspect ratio. When I input any resolution below 1280 x 720 however, such as 1152 x 648 or 1024 x 576, the game will load up to a mostly black screen with a small box displaying a portion of the user interface in a resolution that looks much higher.

I don't know if all that makes sense, but I was hoping someone here could help make sense of this odd issue. I know that both 1024x576 and 1152x648 are valid 16:9 resolutions.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Y axis of games converted by the Widescreen Mod must be equal to or greater than 600 pixels, so 1024x576 will not work.

Have you tried creating a custom resolution with your graphics card control panel for 1152x648, and use that for the desktop running the game?
IMHO 1024x600 will be the best here. I don't remember playing BG like that, but Torment worked really well.

They may be valid 16:9 resolutions, but you should make sure your graphics card can support them. I couldn't stand the original resolution of BG1. I find 1920x1080 perfect. But that's just my opinion ;)
