I have read through many walkthroughs and checked many forums trying to get some info on this.... I got the acorn quest from the dryads in the very first prison in bg2. but every time i confront Ilyich and his druegar pals and beat him down to "near death" (my ass......), Ilyrich runs then reduces himself, and runs through a hole in the wall. Ive tried everything... entangling. holds, charms, inflicting crazy damage via haste etc, and even fireballs and magic missiles to bombard him as he flees to no avail. How the heck am i supposed to kill this guy for the acorns and armor of the dead?

Ilyich does not disappear in vanilla BG2, so either you have something like the Improved Ilyich mod, or the Tactics mod, in which case that is where your problem lies. Or you are using the Enhanced Edition, and they have changed something in there -- I can't say that I ever noticed when I played it. I can honestly say that in all the years I've been playing, I've never had one iota of trouble with Ilyich.

ya not sure what version i got, have had it for many years now n just finally gettin around to playin it. but all the duergar get really big n ilyich goes buhbye. guess il just have to move on forward n see whats comin.

Woah! That's Improved Ilyich (which requires ToB for the Fire Giant animations), so you have that installed or are running the Big World mod. Not a vanilla issue at all. You need to read up on the mods you have installed.
