Yeah yeah, same old, same old, right? Not quite.

This is a new issue - at least, I've never seen it before, and I can't find anything about it, either.

Just yesterday, BG2 started flickering - but in a strange way. Other windows or programs keep flickering in and out briefly, almost as if someone was holding down ALT-TAB while still keeping BG2 in the foreground (obviously this isn't actually the case). This makes the game incredibly jerky to the point of unplayable. The mouse is also flickering like crazy, but oddly enough, only in the game itself, not in the menus.

I haven't got an nvidia card, the game worked perfectly until a couple of days ago, and I'm having this issue on multiple different installs.

I don't run into this issue when running any other programs.

Finally, the issues go away when I put the game in windowed mode - which is another similarity to the nvidia issue, but again, I haven't got an nvidia card. I'm actually just running the integrated card (Intel 4400 right now).


Anyone have any idea what could be happening here?


Oh, just to clarify, this is BG2, not BG2:EE

It's probably a driver issue. Reboot your computer. Seriously.

Already tried that, but unfortunately it didn't work.

IIRC this started happening at around the time Windows did an update, so I'm trying to see if there's anything in that that could have created a conflict somewhere.

Anyone have any idea what could be happening here? I've tried everything and nothing seems to help.

Okay, I've partially solved it. Apparently enabling 3D Acceleration takes care of the flickering, but now it goes back to having the game not fullscreen, unless I use widescreen mod to set the resolution at 1920x1080, which makes the game seem a bit small.
